Share

Peaks-and-Pints-Tacoma-Beer-FlightWhat began as Northern Lights Brewing back in 1993 is now the multiple award-winning No-Li Brewhouse on the banks of the Spokane River in downtown Spokane. The brewery that created “Spokane Style” beers has a mantle full of craft beer awards such as Great American Beer Festival, Japan International Beer Competition, Brussels International Beer Competition, European Beer Star Competition, National Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association and five medals at the 2016 Washington Beer Awards including Large Brewery of the Year. No-Li Brewhouse is the special guest brewery for our SudsPop Monday music and beer nights, which begins at 6 p.m. tonight with No-Li sales executive Mike Lay hosting Two Truths and a Lie game with his Red White and No-Li Pale and Big Juicy IPA flowing from our Western red cedar tap log. In celebration with of our month-long hug with No-Li we present Craft Beer Crosscut 5.1.17: A Flight of No-Li Brewhouse.

6.1% ABV, 22 IBUs

No-Li Brewhouse continues its transition from longtime Spokane brewer to a major player in the Northwest craft beer scene. Its award-winning Rise & Grind smells like a bag of freshly roasted coffee and some semi-sweet chocolate chips. The coffee flavor on this beer is full on black coffee. Layers of freshly roasted Gemelli coffee gives the beer the flavor of bitter dark roasted coffee, a bite of acidity, and just the slightest touch of chocolate sweetness on the finish. Potent, strong and flavorful.

6.1% ABV, 35 IBU

No-Li head brewer Ryan Brookhart and lead brewer Brandon Nelson developed this recipe in honor of the men and women of Fairchild Air Force Base, which shares the same hometown of Spokane, Washington. Brookhart and Nelson nicknamed the craft beer “Fruity Pebbles” due to the enormous fruity aromatics and flavors in this pale ale, thanks to Citra hops in the kettle and dry-hopping. Flavor is grassy, grapefruit, resin and bitterness.

No-Li-Spin-Cycle-Red-Ale-TacomaNo-Li Spin Cycle

5.75% ABV, 49 IBU

Spin Cycle might say “Red” on the bottle, but the Spokane brewery still describes it as a “celebration of the classic English-style ESB.” Spin Cycle’s specialty malts combine to provide an aroma of lightly toasted bread and caramel, while additions of American Noble hops add an herbal flavor for balance. “Spin Cycle is a excellent example of my favorite style of beer,” says Peaks and Pints bartender Erin Miller. “I love red ales, and this one is at the top. Easy to drink and the bottle is big enough to share happily.”

No-Li-Big-Juicy-TacomaNo-Li Big Juicy

6.15% ABV, 55 IBU

At 55 IBUs and 6.15 percent ABV, Big Juicy is practically sessionable compared to traditional West Coast IPAs. Featuring the nectarous symphony of Citra, El Dorado, Azacca and Belma Hops, Big Juicy is just dripping with citrus and tropical flavors. Belma? Indeed — one of the newest varieties punches up the flavor with sweet orange, nectarous pineapple and rare hints of vine-ripe strawberries. Azacca represent with a tropical storm of spicy mango and juicy tangerine, adding in a touch of piney bitter. El Dorado and Citra push the nose to fruity extremes.

No-Li-Wrecking-Ball-TacomaNo-Li Wrecking Ball

9.5% ABV, 100 IBU

In 2012, No-Li introduced the Wrecking Ball Imperial Stout, and the name alone should be an indication that this beer is here to make a statement. Ignoring the 9.5% ABV, the statement is balance. Inky black with five types of dark, roasted malt for complex flavors of coffee, chocolate and brown sugar is balanced with two large hop additions to prevent the dark malt from totally dominating this monster of a beer. It’s sweet enough to accompany a rich dessert and packs enough punch to help you wind down.
