It was a pretty good day for Washington state breweries at the 2016 Great American Beer Festival Awards ceremony, the beer world’s equivalent to the Oscars. The annual commercial brewing contest and tasting event, sponsored by the Brewers Association, was held in Denver yesterday as part of the annual ginormous three-day beer festival that sees 800 U.S. breweries pouring 3,800 beers to some 60,000 attendees. Out of nearly 7,227 entries form 1,752 breweries, 286 medals were awarded in 161 different beer style categories. Breweries from Washington state won 16 medals, including seven gold medals.

Georgetown Brewing sits in top of the Washington state throne, grabbing a gold medal in the category with the most entrants, American-Style IPA with 312 entries, as well as a gold medal in another very competitive category, Coffee Beer with 168 entries.

Washington breweries also own the Gose category, taking home both gold and silver medals in the German-style Sour Ale category, which had 141 entries. Reuben’s Brews took the gold, while Kulshan Brewing took the silver.

Below are the state’s medalists, in alphabetical order according to medal color. Check out the full winners list and more details about the competition here on the Brewers Association website.
