TACOMA PREFUNK THURSDAY, JULY 20 2017: Slaughter County Brewing and Lynyrd Skynyrd

PREFUNK: Homebrewer Scott Kirvin spent 30 years honing his craft before opening the pirate-themed Slaughter County Brewing Co. in 2012. He brews his craft beers with a beautiful view of Sinclair Inlet, which separates his Port Orchard brewhouse from Bremerton. Peaks and Pints will pour four Slaughter County craft beers at 6 p.m. Kirvin will walk onto our 1940’s fir plank floor with his Gorst Pilsner Style Ale with German ale yeast, Midwest style Ol’ One Eye IPA, Luna Negra Blackberry Wit and Bondsmans Bitter ESB with Maris Otter and Crystal English malts, Nottingham English yeast, open fermented and hopped traditionally with Nugget, Fuggle and Golding. Peaks and Pints, Tacoma

8 P.M. LYNYRD SKYNYRD: The Lynyrd Skynyrd story is one of perserverence and untimely death. Guitarist Garry Rossington is the only suriving member from the band’s classic lineup. We’re willing to bet that he has a hell of time finding an affordable life-insurance policy. Anyway, the band still rocks with Rossington, Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Johnny Colt, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase. Emerald Queen Casino, Tacoma

8:30 P.M. REGGAE: Mix Bob Marley, Incubus, Santana and Rage Against the Machine in a blender, sprinkle in a little Sublime and Citizen Cope and enjoy the musical stylings of Destin, Florida band Heritage. Front man Tony Verrecchia and crew will jam at The Swiss tonight. Swiss Restaurant and Pub, Tacoma
