6-Pack of Things To Do in Tacoma Nov. 26-Dec. 1 2024
Must haves for the holiday season: food, air, water, 6-Pack of Things To Do in Tacoma. …
TUESDAY, NOV. 26 — DARK DAYS OF THANKSGIVING FLIGHT: What makes a dark beer dark? It all comes down to the malts. Though all beer relies on malts (cereal grains that have been allowed to germinate, then dried to halt the germination process), dark beers are unique in their use of black and dark malts. These grains are heavily roasted to achieve the characteristic color as well as the caramelized, toasty flavors we love. As part of our Dark Days of Thanksgiving salute to dark beers running through Black Friday (closed Thanksgiving), Peaks & Pints presents a Tuesday flight of dark beers brewed in California. 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Peaks & Pints, 3816 N. 26th St., Basecamp Proctor, Tacoma
TUESDAY, NOV. 26-SUNDAY, DEC. 1 — WICKED: On Tuesday, April 11, Wicked passed another audience favorite, Cats, to become the fourth longest-running musical in Broadway history. For the uninitiated, the fanciful re-imagining of Oz without Dorothy as the main character by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman provides the origin story of Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. The two young women meet at a prestigious high school run by Madame Morrible, a secret consort to the Wizard himself. Familiar plot twists are expertly woven into the new exploration, creating a captivating story arc. Locally, The Grand Cinema and Blue Mouse theaters are screening Wicked — The Grand has already began screening it and the Blue Mouse starts on Friday. Photo courtesy of Wikimedia
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 27 — THANKSGIVING PREFUNK: Join Peaks & Pints Wednesday when we tap an array of notable beers for bonding with homeys, enjoying mini class reunions, entertaining relatives, or filling crowlers to crowbar craft beer into Thanksgiving. As previously mentioned, we are celebrating dark beers all week at Peaks & Pints. Pour yourself a bit of cider, sake, wine or anything else for Thanksgiving dinner, then after, when the pies appear, a big, boozy, decadent dark beer should do the trick. We won’t call these dessert beers, because they do not seek to replace your slice of pie. They instead offer the chance at a second helping of something sweet, even as they fulfill the job of a nightcap in further relaxing and warming your senses. Also enjoy 20% off growler fills Wednesday! Peaks & Pints is closed on Thanksgiving so we can pair the hell out of the holiday! Happy Thanksgiving! 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Peaks & Pints, 3816 N. 26th St., Basecamp Proctor, Tacoma
BLACK FRIDAY, NOV. 29 — GOOSE ISLAND RELEASE: Maybe you’ll be done buying discount TVs before 6 a.m. or maybe you’ve just got better things to do Friday than join the masses at the mall. Whatever the case, Peaks & Pints has special dark beer in honor of the retail world’s big day. And while beer geeks will be hitting our Western red cedar tap log and large cooler for the annual release of Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout and its variants, there many other treasures we’ll have in the lodge beginning at 10 a.m. So let go of the Walmart coupons and shine a little light on Black Friday at Peaks & Pints. 10 a.m. to midnight, Peaks & Pints, 3816 N. 26th St., Basecamp Proctor, Tacoma
