WEDNESDAY MAY 17 2017: Tangerine before a night in Tacoma …
PREFUNK: “Tangerine, Tangerine, living reflection from a dream” so says Led Zeppelin. We have no idea what that means, but we do know this: two delicious tangerine craft beers are currently pouring from peaks and Pints’ Western red cedar tap log. For those of you who want a light and cheerful beer, Lost Coast’s Tangerine Wheat is your best bet. This candy-scented wheat beer is crisp, clean and refreshing. New Belgium’s Citradelic Tangerine IPA is certainly the sweeter of the two in terms of residual sugars, with juicy fruit flavors that remind us of orange Starburst. It’s intensely aromatic and the fruit character comes through clearly without overpowering the beer. Peaks and Pints, Tacoma
1:45 & 6:45 P.M. BONNIE & CLYDE: Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway star as the iconic bank robbing outlaws in the 1967 crime biography. Trivia follows the late screening. The Grand Cinema, Tacoma
5 P.M. BREAKSIDE BREWERY NIGHT: Breakside Brewery has broken free from Portland and will enter the Parkway tonight. There will be swag and delicious beers such as Rainbows & Unicorns, Imperial Red, Salted Caramel Stout, and a few others. Parkway Tavern, Tacoma
7 P.M. THE ANCIENT FRUITCAKE: Pierce County Library System and Humanities Washington invite the community to an engaging conversation with Harriet Baskas, a member of the 2012-14 Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau, about what really, really, old food tells us about history, culture, love and memory.
