TACOMA PREFUNK FRIDAY, JUNE 9 2017: Founders Sumatra Mountain Brown and Mr. Hyde
PREFUNK: Founders Brewing’s magnificent, coffee-forward Sumatra Mountain imperial brown ale is smooth, rich and roasty with nutty and caramel flavors. This full-bodied ale receives its depth from a team of malts including caramel malt for sweetness, flaked barley for dense foam, a bit of chocolate malt for its deep color and aromatic and Munich malts to add even more depth. Sumatra coffee, along with German and Perle hops, are also among the ingredients that make this a slam-dunk brew for a Friday. Drop by Peaks and Pints and grab a pint on draft. Peaks and Pints, Tacoma

9 P.M. DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE: When the traditionalists among us think about classical music, German Baroque masters like Buxtehude and Bach come to mind first. But as The Grand Cinema reminds us, an important current in the music genre’s modern history is classical music’s association with film, forged in that medium’s early, silent years. The Tacoma movie house has invited The Invincible Czars to perform during a screening of the 1920 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde tonight. Woodwinds and strings still serve as the Austin, Texas band’s backbone, but there’s a decidedly heavier vibe, and more rabbit holes to fall down. Expect a spooky accompaniment as scientist and philanthropist John Barrymore transforms into Edward Hyde. The Grand Cinema, Tacoma
