Ballast Point Takes The Cake Tacoma

Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits brewed a nitro “golden” oatmeal stout. That’s clear? But it’s made with beets. So it’s red? OK. Duh. It obviously resembles a slice of red velvet cake with the foamy head of the nitro pour as the “icing,” adding a creamy smoothness to the mouthfeel.
Red Velvet Nitro Oatmeal Stout is definitely dessert in a glass dominated by chocolate with earthy notes of beets, subtle wafts of roast cocoa and vanilla. And it’s definitely the focus of Peaks and Pints’ Lodge Meeting with Ballast Point at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1.
In addition to the unique golden oatmeal stout flavored with chocolate and colored with beet juice Peaks and Pints will pour other Ballast Point dessert beers Peanut Butter Victory at Sea, Coconut Victory at Sea, Mocha Marlin and Orange Vanilla Fathom.
