More than 40 years ago Pacific Northwest Shop opened their family owned and managed retail store dedicated to the sale of products made in the Pacific Northwest.

Pacific Northwest Shop

Considered the anchor business in Tacoma’s Proctor District, the family-owned Pacific Northwest Shop has been dedicated to selling products made in the Pacific Northwest for around 40 years. Though the store is not large, a veritable bounty of Northwest goodness resides within its walls. The items make exceptional gift fodder for out-of-state family and friends, such as Volcanic Ash Art Glass made from Mt. St. Helens ash. There is an assortment of stone coasters and refrigerator magnets with vintage scenes of the area. There is also a great selection of Seahawks stuff.  The store also carries a large selection of Pacific Northwest specialty foods such as Emerald Sweets dark chocolate non-pareils, white chocolate barks, and chocolate-covered caramel trees. Bonus: On top of a place to buy gifts for others, the Pacific Northwest Shop offers you a gift as well — they package, insure, and ship everything. 2702 N. Proctor St., Tacoma, 800. 942.3523

Essentially a barleywine style ale, but made with a wheat heavy grain base, this craft beer is aged in used bourbon barrels for nearly a year and comes out rich in flavors of coconut, honey, caramel and vanilla.

Peaks and Pints

Today’s Peaks and Pints Package Present is a 750ml bottle of The Bruery White Chocolate Wheatwine and two snifter glasses.

A wheatwine is basically a barelywine with 50 percent or more wheat malt. They’ve become our favorite sipping style, offering just as much sweetness and booze as barleywines, but with lower hop levels. For us, they’re simply the quintessential winter beer, delivering a hefty dose of warming alcohol alongside complex sweet, fruity malts. The Bruery’s White Chocolate (14.25%) is a 100 percent barrel-aged wheatwine that the brewery affectionately refers to as “White Oak Sap.” Essentially, it’s made with a wheat heavy grain base, then aged in used bourbon barrels for nearly a year. To compliment the already rich flavors of the beer, the brewery adds cacao nibs and vanilla beans to give this beer the delicate flavor of white chocolate. Pour The Bruery White Chocolate is the accompanying two snifter glasses and cheers Christmas when the clock strikes midnight. 3816 N. 26th St., Tacoma, 253.328.5621
