Some are going virtual, while others will be open for business with secure social-distancing protocols. Either way, you should be able to get all your shopping done with ease and a full heart. KRAMPUS: Krampus, the goat-demon of Central European folklore, traditionally precedes Santa Claus’ arrival in order to scare naughty children into being nicer. He is the raging yang to Santa’s jovial yin, and his work is never done. The Productivity Parlour for Artful Living in downtown Tacoma has captured Krampus, offering the chance to photograph it via appointments. Families can book a 10-minute block to come visit and take selfies with the holiday demon. SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY: Today is Small Business Saturday, a holiday that encourages Americans to patron Main Street enterprises. While small businesses have been the backbone of the U.S. economy for decades, it’s more important to support them now than ever before. The coronavirus has pistol whipped small businesses, many on life support. Peaks and Pints craft beer bar, bottle shop and restaurant is a small business owned by three lifelong Tacomans. Today, our small business celebrates other local small business by offering a flight of Tacoma craft beer, which we call Peaks and Pints Pilot Program: Small Business Beer On the Fly. For the most part, we suggest the beers that put each brewery on the map, with apologies to the other Tacoma brewers for which we currently don’t have their beer in the cooler. 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., 3816 N. 26th St., Basecamp Proctor, Tacoma

FARMERS MARKET: Late starts, social distancing, crazy weather, fewer vendors, and mask upon mask upon mask: That’s a good breakdown of this year’s pandemic farmers’ market season. But despite the changes, some things stayed the same — namely, the steadfast people who run things, the farmers who continue to grow great produce and the customers eager to get their heirloom tomatoes, organic kale and five kinds of radishes. WALKING TOUR: In 1889, Thea Foss founded a rowboat service in Tacoma that later grew to become Foss Maritime, the largest tug and towing operation on the West Coast. Thea Foss’s name lives on as the Thea Foss Waterway, which can be viewed from the Museum of Glass, several condominium complexes, a couple parks and an assortment of marinas. Explore the outdoor art and architecture of Museum of Glass, the Chihuly Bridge of Glass, and Thea Foss Waterway with the Museum of Glass’ education staff on a Walking Tour. ZOOLIGHTS: Misplaced your Christmas cheer? Jump online and reserve your Zoolights date, because Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium has plenty to go around. The Zoo’s 700,000 light display depicts everything from Santa’s reindeer to walruses and the 23-foot Mount Rainier. There is an infusion of newness in this year’s event, for obvious reasons. A very limited number of timed online tickets are now available at pdza.org/zoolights. Aquariums, goat area and the carousel will be closed during Zoolights to keep everyone safe, but parking is free. 5-9 p.m., 5400 N. HOLIDAY LIGHTS: Whether you’re the Grinch who can’t stand Christmas or the person who starts writing their Christmas list in September, Peaks & Pints guarantees Fantasy Lights will get you in the spirit now that Thanksgiving is gone and past. Established 26 years ago, Fantasy Lights is a highly celebrated drive-thru display of awe-inspiring light exhibits held annually during the holiday season at Spanaway Park. The jaw-dropping two-mile drive includes more than 300 animated displays and thousands of holiday lights that evoke a profound sense of wizardry and reverence for people of all ages.
