Tacoma Arts Live offers a unique immersive experience on the art of the French painter Claude Monet at the Tacoma Armory through May 12, 2024. “Imagine Monet” is the exhibition created by the French directors Annabelle Mauger and Julien Baron, the world’s first directors of a digital immersive exhibition. Imagine Monet starts with the famous painting Impression, Sunrise (1872) and closes with the renowned Water Lilies series (1914-1926). This experience features more than 200 well-known masterpieces by the French impressionist with 360° projections on walls and floor plunging visitors into a waking dream, thanks to state-of-the-art Image Totale© technology. Monet was a revolutionary artist who upset the social scene of his time. He is known for initiating Impressionism and as a pioneer of abstraction. Beyond his invaluable contributions to impressionist art, Monet has gone on to become one of the most famous artists of all time. And his favorite muse, flowers, went along with him for every step of the journey. Today, Peaks & Pints presents an in-house flower and floral themed beer flight to pair with “Imagine Monet”. While your first reaction might be that the last thing you want to put in your mouth is a flower, its addition to beer can be quite tasty. Some flowers are subtle and add a nice, smooth quality to beer, while others pack a more powerful punch. And that’s not to mention the base beer to which they’re added, which can either empower the flower or complement it by balancing flavor characteristics. Stop by Peaks & Pints before or after the Monet exhibition and enjoy floral notes and flower themes with Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Imagine Monet Exhibition.

Anderson Valley Framboise Rose Gose
4.2% ABV
From 1913 and until his death, in 1926, Monet was busy mainly with the large decorative series of the Water Lilies. All the other works executed in those years are views of his garden. Developed as their take on a rosé in beer form, the brewers at Anderson Valley Brewing brought Framboise Rose Gose to life by adding rose hips to the boil and fresh raspberry puree at the end of fermentation. These additions result in a light ruby hued kettle-soured beer highlighted by subtle raspberry fruit notes that greet the nose and fall soft on the palate; tangy, hibiscus-like flavors that mingle with the salty tartness of gose to create a uniquely complex, pink, and refreshing drinking experience.
Lowercase Hit Me with a Flower – New World Light Lager
3.8% ABV
A collaboration with Bizarre Brewing, this Lowercase Brewing little ditty was made with Weyermann Extra Pale Pils malt and a ton of rice syrup solids (a fancy name for rice sugar), followed by Oregon-grown Cascade and Wai-iti hops and dry hopped with more Wai-iti for notes of lemon, lime, and herbal moments.
Steeplejack Sawyer
4.4% ABV
In 2019, Brody Day and Dustin Harder converted a 1909 church on the corner of Northwest Broadway and 24th Street in Portland into Steeplejack Beer, a brewery, taproom, and restaurant that still looks like a church — a very cool church. The building’s stained-glass windows loom above the brewery’s tanks and bar, and pews serve as banquettes for the wooden tables at the center of the space. The women-led brewing team mainly brews at 30-barrel production brewery in Hillsboro. Sawyer is a classic table beer brewed with terroir-driven Pilsner malt, oats, and wheat, and balanced with whole cone hops for floral flavor and creamy texture.
Hetty Alice Pilsner
4.7% ABV
You respected him when he brewed at Full Sail Brewing. You worshipped him when he was head brewer at pFriem Family Brewers. You cheered him when he helped build Living Haus Beer Co. And now you applaud him at one-half of his dream brewery, Hetty Alice Beers. Gavin Lord is respected and beloved in the Oregon beer community. His latest venture, Hetty Alice with marketing manager, communications expert, gastronomy graduate, and wife, Giselle Kennedy Lord, and named after his maternal grandmother, Hetty Alice, showcases his love and passion for beer. Their Bavarian style pilsner is brewed with Tettnanger, Mandarina Bavaria, and Spalt Select for a clean, super bright and slight dry punch of floral hops with a dry cracker body.
Kings & Daughters L’Escargot
4.8% ABV
“This time of year we get to witness the winter world awaken,” states Kings & Daughters when describing their Kolsch, L’Escargot. “The reward — for patiently waiting for windows to defrost, for tea to steep, for the fireplace to warm the main room, for the inversion to lift, the first buds to erupt through the frozen soil — is the beauty of watching these tiny miracles unfold.” This crisp and bright springtime Kolsch offerings bready-biscuity tasting malts balancing a modest lemony, floral hop bite.
