There is something you should know about beer: There is a holiday for virtually everything about beer that is celebrated somewhere, somehow, including today’s IPA Day, which gives glory to hops, bittering units, and IPAs. Founded in 2011 on the first Thursday in August, IPA Day is a global celebration of craft beer. It is a universal movement that was created to unite the voices of craft beer enthusiasts, bloggers, and brewers worldwide. IPA Day was originally developed as a social media-based holiday, but has since expanded into a worldwide party, boasting hundreds of IPA-themed events, celebrations and Peaks & Pints in-house beer flight. Since Peaks & Pints received a shipment of El Segundo Brewing and Pure Project today, we offer Peaks and Pints National IPA Day Flight: El Segundo and Pure Project.
Peaks and Pints National IPA Day Flight: El Segundo and Pure Project
Pure Project Pure West
6.3% ABV
Pure West is Pure Project’s core unfiltered West Coast IPA — a celebration of hand-selected hops and the farmers who grew them. Featuring Nelson Sauvin, Citra, Strata, and Simcoe, this golden-colored creation glows with scents of pineapple, apricot, and lemon sorbet. Flavors of grapefruit zest, lychee, and resin give way to a solid bitter finish, classic to the style.
Pure Project Houblon Deluxe
8.5% ABV
This 2022 World Beer Cup-winning, French-inspired, murky double IPA collaboration with Outer Range Brewing in Colorado is brewed with Citra Cryo and Wai-iti beautifully complementing Barbe Rouge, an illustrious hop developed in the legendary growing region of Alsace, France. This third batch of Houblon Deluxe features bright notes of white peach and lemon shortbread character on the nose, while the palate savors flavors of sweet orange, pineapple sorbet and fresh mango.
El Segundo Peculiar Habits
6.2% ABV
This smooth, West Coast IPA collaboration with Fremont Brewing is brewed with New Zealand hops Motueka Cryo, Nelson, and Riwaka clicks all the check marks: Light, crisp, aromatic, hoppy, malty, and bitter. Expect tropical and dank notes with a dry finish.
El Segundo White Dog IPA
6.7% ABV
El Segundo Brewing is an independent craft brewery founded by Rob Croxall and Tom Kelley in El Segundo, California, in 2011. Named for Rob’s dog, the White alludes to their use of 50-percent wheat instead of barley in this modern unfiltered IPA. Aside from that though, this IPA has very little in common with what most people consider a “wheat” beer. The wheat in the malt bill gives the beer a lighter texture and mouthfeel and helps to accentuate the bright citrus characters of fruity West Coast and New Zealand hops. The result is an IPA that Hop Heads will love, but that is immediately approachable for most people.
El Segundo Broken Skull IPA
6.7% ABV
Since 2015, El Segundo and Stone Cold Steve Austin the two have partnered to make Broken Skull IPA. The American retired professional wrestler, media personality and actor help design the West Coast IPA brewed with Citra, Cascade, and Chinook hops. It punches the nose with piney citrus hops then body slams the crisp citrus hops with hint of tropical fruit with a light juicy bitter walk-off.
