Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Fresh Hoptoberfest Finale

Share

In September 2017, Peaks & Pints presented our first Fresh Hoptoberfest — a month-long autumn beer party marrying up two popular seasonal beers — fresh hops and Oktoberfest. Women dressed in lederhosen. Men got fresh … hop beers. Hop farmers and malters began living together — mass hysteria! This year, our eighth year, we named the celebration “Dawn of Fresh Hoptoberfest” at our bottle shop, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. Today marks the last day of Peaks & Pints’ annual Fresh Hoptoberfest, although fresh hop beers will be on tap at Peaks & Pints for several more weeks. Stop by Peaks and enjoy the combo of bright, hop-hazy fresh-hop beers and clean, hearty Oktoberfest-style lagers for one last time as Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Fresh Hoptoberfest Finale.

Otherlands Excessive Celebrations

5.5% ABV

Brewing and service industry veterans Karolina Lobrow and Ben Howe conceived their brewpub as a cottage in the woods called “Chickens As Friends” that brewed one beer and served food exclusively from our garden. Instead, they opened a cozy 50-seat cafe called Otherlands Beer in Bellingham’s Sunnyside neighborhood. Their Excessive Celebrations modern festbier is brewed with Vienna and Pilsner malt and their special lager yeast for malty, soft, and dry characteristics with a pleasant, fruity yeast character.

Holy Mountain Festbier

5.8% ABV

Holy Mountain Brewing’s Festbier is a Munich-style lager brewed with German Vienna and Pilsner malts and hopped with Tettnang. It is fermented cool with their favorite Bavarian yeast and layered ice cold for five weeks for notes of wildflower honey and a gentle minerality upfront, leaving nutty malt accents expanding over the mid-palate as brown bread crusts and white toast tone the back end of the profile.

GoodLife 150 Hippies Fresh Hop

5.5% ABV

If 150 hippies wanted to incorporate a new city in Oregon, they could. ORS 221.020 states people in the greater Bend, Oregon, areas can incorporate a new city as long as there are 150 residents, as long as they use the right form, the names and addresses of at least three chief petitioners, have a city name, and have a proposed permanent tax rate. Break out the petition and Birkenstocks because Bend’s GoodLife Brewing has released 150 Hippies Fresh Hop, their annual “Co-Hop-native fresh hop ale.” This year’s brew includes fresh Citra hops from Cornerstone Farm in Yakima, plus some Cascade, Centennial, and a little bit who knows man … chillax and enjoy the trip.

Little Beast Fresh Hop Pinetop

6.4% ABV

Little Beast Brewing grabbed their Centennial, Mosaic and Chinook hopped Pinetop West Coast IPA and brewed it with fresh Centennial, Mosaic and Chinook to amplify the lush and resinous character of this Pacific Northwest native.

Varietal Hyperion

8% ABV

For the third straight year, Varietal Beer and Structures Brewing have brewed Hyperion, their GABF award-winning fresh hop West Coast double IPA. Brewed with fresh Citra and freshly kilned Simcoe hops from Sauve & Son Farms in Grandview. Expect notes of ripe mango and citrus zest.
