Peaks and Pints Cider Flight: Schilling

Share

Thanks to Schilling Cider, October is National Cider Month. Established in 2019 by Schilling, the Washington-based cider company with Sasquatch as a mascot, Peaks & Pints joins the National Cider Month celebration hosting several Schilling Cider events in October, including a 5-8 p.m. kick-off party with Washington Wild tonight at our craft beer and cider lodge in Tacoma’s Proctor District. As part of National Cider Month, Schilling has, once again, has partnered with Washington Wild to raises money to help keep wild spaces intact. Last year, this campaign raised $20,000 for these charities. Since Peaks & Pints has partnered with Washington Wild many times, we’re asking people to “round-up” their beverage and food bill at Peaks with the proceeds benefiting Washington Wild’s mission to protect wild lands and rivers in Washington state through advocacy, education and civic engagement. In conjunction with tonight party, Peaks & Pints offer an all-day flight of Schilling Cider — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Cider Flight: Schilling.

Peaks and Pints Cider Flight: Schilling

Schilling Local Legend

5.2% ABV

Local legend is Schilling’s semi-sweet heritage style cider. One of the most approachable non-fruited ciders that Schilling has to offer, Local Legend is light and refreshing with a blend of fresh-pressed Pacific Northwest apples and heirloom bittersharps. The nose is esters and apple, followed by tartness.

Schilling Moon Berries

5.2% ABV

Juicy blackberries and bright blueberries mingle with a hint of sweet French lavender and tangy, fresh-pressed Pacific Northwest apples. At a sparkling 5.2-percent, its flavor profile is fruited and semi-sweet making this a crushable year-round cider.

Schilling Chaider Spiced Chai

6.5% ABV

The name “chai” is the Hindi word for “tea,” which was derived from “cha,” the Chinese word for “tea.” The Hindi term chai means a mix of spices steeped into a tea-like beverage. Recipes for chai vary across continents, cultures, towns, and families. But the traditional ingredients of a spiced tea blend usually include black tea mixed with strong spices, like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, and black peppercorns. The spiced tea mixture is typically brewed strong with milk and sweetened with sugar or honey. For Chaider, Schilling collaborates with Dragonfly Chai, Portland’s organic tea microbrewery, mixing Organic Dragonfly Chai Mix with fresh pressed apple juice and yeast. The appearance is hazy — a muted dark yellow. The nose is intense chai spices. The flavor is also fairly dominated by chai spices, however there’s a mix of vanilla, and sweet apples in there.

Schilling Excelsior Imperial Berrymassive

8.4% ABV

As part of their Excelsior Imperial Cider line, this semi-sweet blackberry and blueberry mashup spirals into a core of freshly pressed Pacific Northwest apples and heirloom bittersharp apples.

Schilling Excelsior Imperial Mango

9.1% ABV

Another Excelsior Imperial Cider version, this tropical cider is made with ripe mangoes, French bittersharp apples, and a squeeze of lime. Sweet mango notes in the nose dominate the apple character with a bit of petit-four cake notes. It’s smooth and juicy with sweet mango-apple flavor.
