In 2016, Phil Hottenstein, a railroad engineer, and Russell Mann, former owner of the Enoteca wine and beer shop in Post Falls, Idaho, and Matt Skillicorn, a mechanical engineer and homebrewer opened Bombastic Brewing after Mann sold the store. The brewery began on a half-barrel (15-gallon) pilot brewing system at the Panhandle Area Business Council incubator near the Hayden, Idaho airport. Last year, Mann bought out the partners, which came on the heels of their multi-state expansion and receipt of three medals at the North American Brewers Association’s International Beer and Cider Awards. Today, Peaks & Pints presents a flight of Bombastic beers — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Bombastic Brewing.

Bombastic Santa Caws

Bombastic Murder is a pitch-black imperial stout with cocoa nibs, vanilla, cinnamon, ancho chiles and cayenne.
Bombastic Business Adambier Strong German Ale
14% ABV
Adambier is a historic style from Dortmund, Germany. Bombastic’s version, Business Adambier Strong German Ale, features a complex malt bill and a long boil, and maillard reaction. Look for complex malty notes that may include raisin, hint of smoke, vanilla, oak, dried fruits, leather, caramel, and roastiness.
Bombastic Psychopomp Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee Imperial Stout
14% ABV
Psychopomp Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee Imperial Stout is brewed with maple syrup in the boil and fermenter, then aged in bourbon barrels with an infusion of more maple syrup. Finally, they balance the maple with a careful dose of rich cold press Thomas Hammer coffee. Rich, roasted, and layered with maple sweetness, this stout is a harmonious blend of flavors that’s both indulgent and refined.
Bombastic Big Dumb Beer
15% ABV
Bombastic Big Dumb Beer imperial stout is brewed with roasted wheat and flaked oats for a full body and chocolate rye to give bold chocolate notes with minimal bitterness.
