Friends of Friends of Tacoma Public Library
August 19, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Peaks and Pints has recently realized that we have an issue with getting rid of old books. Most books that we let through our front door tend to stay in our house for life. We wanted to figure out a way to stop giving books a forever home. But, you know. Life. Now, we were like, “This is dumb. Peaks and Pints needs to just go to the damn library.” If we were going to keep wanting new books, this would be at least one sure-fire way to stop keeping them — they weren’t ours. If no one ever explained how awesome the library could be, we’re here to tell you: Tacoma Public Library is awesome!
Peaks and Pints will host “Friends of Friends of Tacoma Public Library” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21. Friends of Tacoma Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to the active promotion, welfare, and support of the Tacoma Public Library through advocacy, funding, and volunteer support. Peaks and Pints digs their mission, “to foster wider awareness of Library services and to build a strong relationship between the Library and the community which it serves.” Therefore, we’ll donate proceeds from all draft sales, 6-9 p.m., Aug. 21, to the Friends’ efforts to support children’s literacy programs.
Even if you’re constitutionally unlikely to join us in fan-girling out over the Tacoma Public Library, you can’t argue with its merits. In fact, we guarantee, after your first library visit, you’ll walk out feeling like you robbed the place. It’s really almost too good to be true.
Wait, did someone say there are late fees? Nothing in life is perfect. But the Tacoma Public Library comes pretty damn close.
FRIENDS OF FRIENDS OF TACOMA PUBLIC LIBRARY, 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, peaks and Pints, 3816 N. 26th St., Basecamp proctor, Tacoma, 21+, no cover (except on books)
