The Valley + Zog’s = Hefe Reign and punk reign
CHRISTMAS CAROLS
When we think about Christmas, we think burlesque. There’s something about sultry, fishnets and pasties that send joy to our hearts. Apparently, we are not alone. Tacoma’s burlesque troupe Gritty City Sirens celebrate their 6-year anniversary with a Christmas Caroling Pub Crawl in Tacoma tonight. The buxom crew of ladies will be decked head to toe in sparkles, feathers, lace and mistletoe as they make their way to The Swiss Restaurant and Pub at 5 p.m., Doyle’s Public House at 6:15 p.m., The Mix at 7:30 p.m., Peaks and Pints at 8:45 p.m. ending at The Spar at 10 p.m. where the awesome band Champagne Sunday will take it into the night. They’ll host a raffle at each stop to benefit Standing Rock. We await the Ghost of Christmas Ass.
PREFUNK: Caldera Brewing Company’s colossal brewery sits just off Interstate 5 near Ashland, Oregon. The brewery honors the passing of a beloved pooch named Mogli with its Mogli bourbon-oaked chocolate imperial porter, which is available in Peaks and Pints’ cooler. Both the style and the beer are a mouthful. It’s certainly sweet, but nothing like a cloying milkshake syrup, and best served when the sweet Gritty City Sirens sing Christmas carols at 8:45 p.m. in Peaks and Pints.
HERETIC HOLIDAY
The Valley loves its some punk rock Yuletide jams. The Puyallup Avenue house of music and booze hosts punk rock bands Mind Quad, Pour Life Decisions, Slut Penguin and Oops I Stepped In Some Christ. Will these bands get their scabby and tattooed hands on some holiday songs? We could only hope. We hope they remind us that the holiday isn’t just a time for trimming the tree with your honey and mixing vodka with eggnog. It’s also a time to air your grievances from the past year as they choke the ever-loving crap out of each other. A portion of the door will benefit victims of domestic violence. It begins at 9 p.m.
PREFUNK: Zog’s on Fox Island will step aside and let Fox Island Brewing take over its taps from 5-7 p.m. We’re talking Hefe Reign, Pale Rye-Der, Cencolsim IIPA and Island Stout served at the Fox island oasis. It wouldn’t hurt to wear to break out that ugly Christmas sweater.
