FRIDAY JULY 29 2016: South Sound events + craft beer …
American Killers + Pike Brewing Co. = one foot in the ’80s
Rhythm & Rye + 7 Seas Brewing = Mts. & Tunnels & Seas
ROCK OUT
American Killers is made up of three complete badasses who perform like lunatics: hair flying, bodies thrashing, vocal chords straining, fuzz exploding. The Sacramento rockers are back at The Valley with relentless, bone-shaking riffs and melodies with an appreciation for ’80s rock, but with a strong gusto of fresh energy. Catch them with Fair Lady and guests at 8 p.m.
PREFUNK: Since 1989, Charles and Rose Finkel have been brewing craft beers at their Pike Place Market-based Pike Brewing Company. At 6 p.m., the brewery will pop into the North End Social Club with a bunch of their beers. If only they would bring their ode to craft beer museum hanging from every inch of their Seattle brewery taproom’s walls with them(!) Europa Pizza will be hanging at the North End Social Club too.
MTS. & TUNNELS
Hailing from the Puget Sound, Mts. & Tunnels blends lyrics of love and yearning with vocal harmonies and vintage baritone sax. Singer/songwriter Chris Poage has synthesized his varied influences — from ’40s jazz to Lou Reed — into an eclectic mix of wistful love songs and foot-stomping R&B. With two albums, three singles, and a feature on Network TV, Chris and his folk/rock garage/pop band join The Sam Chase Band at 9 p.m. in Rhythm & Rye in downtown Olympia.
PREFUNK: Friday nights are a communal affair at Boston Harbor Marina, sitting at picnic tables, conversations with folks unwind leisurely. Tonight, Kaeli Earle will pick her stand-up bass and sing; French dip, gazpacho salad and Oreo dirt cups will be paired with 7 Seas Brewing’s delicious Rude Parrot IPA, Ballz Deep Double IPA, 253 Pilsner and Cutts Amber. It’s going down from 5-8 p.m. y’all.
