MONDAY, FEB. 20 2917: South sound events + craft beer …
The Valley + Peaks and Pints = Colorful night
B Sharp Coffee House + Parkway Tavern = Creative
MONDAY FUNDAY
Will Castro digs vinyl. He releases vinyl records on his label, La Escalera Records, when he’s not shredding the guitar in San Diego rock band Western Settings, which means he won’t be pressing vinyl tonight as his band will rock The Valley with label mates Caskitt at 8 p.m. Joining the President’s Day show will be Utah’s Problem Daughter and local rockers Phasers On Kill.
PREFUNK: The noble alchemy of turning grains and hops into beer goes back thousands of years, which means relaxing with sips of beer goes back just as far. In contrast, grown-ups using coloring books as a way to chill has only taken off in the past few years. Yup, adult coloring is all the rage. Tonight, you can color, sip craft beer and listen to some tunes. Uinta Brewing Co. continues its run as the featured craft brewery at Peaks and Pints’ Monday SudsPop music and craft beer nights. As you know the Salt Lake City brewery released a Golden Ale in honor of our nation’s parks. This month’s SudsPop nights have been all about national parks and Uinta craft beer. At 6 p.m., we’re drinking Uinta Golden Ale, Hop Nosh IPA and Cockeyed Cooper Barleywine, coloring national park scenes, listen to national parks inspired music and giving away door prizes such as Uinta glassware. So go ahead. No one’s looking. Grab Crayolas and get to work our your masterpiece.
SHARING STORIES
There are those among us who can make their trip to a hair stylist the most riveting story you’ve heard all week. People whose stories never trail off into “it was really cool. …” Envy them. They are not like you. Not only do they have great success at parties, they have a future with Creative Colloquy. See what all the storytelling fuss is about tonight when local authors share their latest work, followed by an open mic at 7 p.m. in B Sharp Coffee House in downtown Tacoma. If you can stand a 5-minute hairdo story, just imagine how riveted you’ll be by something with an actual plot.
PREFUNK: No, it’s not a beer night for some dude named Randall. A Randall is a special chambered filter that lets you infuse a keg with different flavors — beans, rhubarb, whatever. And the Parkway Tavern will be Randalling the hell out of Firestone Walker’s Union Jack tonight, beginning at 5 p.m.
