RAINIERS VS RIVER CATS
Did you see yesterday’s Tacoma Rainiers’ game against the Sacramento River Cats? Oh, man. Pitcher Zach Lee gave up seven hits and seven runs, including a three-run homer, and the Rainiers went on to lose 10-2 at Cheney Stadium. Tacoma and Sacramento continue their series tonight with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Rainiers will turn to right-hander Sam Gaviglio (1-0, 2.84) for the start, while the River Cats hand the ball to right-hander Joan Gregorio (3-6, 5.89).
PREFUNK: Citra hops. The name says it all. This hop’s strong aroma and flavor of tropical fruits like mango, passion fruit, and pineapple come out in Powerhouse Restaurant and Brewery’s No Fruit Was Harmed Double IPA. Mosaic hops. A hop found in robust IPAs and imperial IPAs. It offers strong citrus qualities of tangerine and pineapple. Some brewers say it lends a light blueberry aroma, too. Taste it in Powerhouse Restaurant and Brewery’s No Fruit Was Harmed Double IPA. As you can see, No Fruit Was Harmed. The Puyallup delight opens at 11 a.m.
YOU’RE ON TONIGHT
Buried deep down in the very core of our hearts is the passion to perform. We secretly want to dress in 1960s get-up, strap on a ukulele, and do Tiny Tim covers. No? Maybe that’s just us. However, we can all agree on the burning desire to perform and create art. The hard part (besides mustering up the courage to show the world our undeniable talent) is finding a comfortable, acceptable, and supportive audience. That’s were The Swiss enters the picture. A weekly Monday open mic that’s everything we just described and more. Regardless of your orientation, age, or gender, everyone receives five minutes or so of fame. You’re on at 7 p.m.
PREFUNK: Just a reminder – if you’re looking for a reason to haul your teeming vinyl milk crate to a beer store and taproom tonight, The Copper Door is hosting their bi-weekly Monday Record Night at 8 p.m. Consider it a salon with a soundtrack — a mix of passionate conversation about music and listening party, in which you can be some combination of DJ, lecturer and fan. Anyone and everyone is invited to bring some vinyl to the Door to play it for fellow guests and talk about what makes it so great. May we suggest Silver Tongued Devil by Kris Kristofferson, because we believe it’s one of the strongest songwriting debuts ever. Plus, Kristofferson landing a helicopter on Johnny Cash’s lawn, and left a Rhodes Scholarship behind to pursue his musical dreams.
