Peaks and Pints 2024 Christmas Beer Flight Dec. 1: Proctor Tree Lighting

Share

You’re lagging in the Christmas spirit this year. Just like last year. And the year before. Scrooging has always been your go-to reaction to the yuletide, but as you grow older, and more sentimental, it’s increasingly unacceptable to be crotchety and contrarian. It’s unsavory. So, Peaks & Pints decide to be proactive. We will elicit Christmas cheer daily through Dec. 24, as we are closed Christmas Day. By which we mean Christmas beer. We will dedicate our daily beer flight to holiday and winter beers pairing it with a local holiday event. After all, Christmas is about nothing if not overconsumption, and you have a lot of catching up to do. We kick off our 24-day holiday celebration today with a giant tree and Peaks and Pints 2024 Christmas Beer Flight Dec 1 Proctor Tree Lighting. The Proctor Tree Lighting is at 6:30 p.m. tonight. This year, the annual tree host Basin Pacific Insurance is partnering with the Coffee Oasis by asking those attending to bring shelf stable snacks for youth in crisis in Tacoma. The Coffee Oasis is the only teen shelter providing wholistic care youth experiencing homelessness. Coffee Oasis will be providing coffee, and there will be hot chocolate for the kiddos. Santa will be joining to visit with the children, and young at heart. Swing by Peaks & Pints before or after the 6:30 p.m. lighting and enjoy our first of many holiday beer flights. Cheers!

Zoiglhaus Nikolaus

5.1% ABV

Do you really think St. Nick wants to eat chocolate chip cookies and drink milk after busting his ass all night?  Hell, no!  He wants to pound lagers and eat gingerbread.  With that image in mind, Zoiglhaus Brewing thought they would save him some trouble and just put the two things together:  German Pilsner, Wheat, Munich, Caramel, Carapils, and Carafa malts were selected to work their magic with a secret blend of gingerbread spices and a splash of German Magnum and Hersbrucker hops.  Nikolaus is spicy, delicate, nuanced and plain fun.

Deschutes Jubelale 2024

6.7% ABV

Deschutes Brewery’s former head brewer John Harris originally brewed Jubelale for Christmas and modeled it after an English strong ale or winter warmer. He brewed that first batch on Oct. 26, 1988, and according to the brewing log, it contained pale malt, caramel malt, chocolate malt, and dextrin malt, and the hops used were Galena, Cascade, “Wills” (assuming Willamette), and Tettnanger in the hop back. Starting gravity was 1.065, and the resulting alcohol was 6.25 percent by volume. The Bend, Oregon brewery has been producing the robust and malty but approachable Jubelale winter festive ale every year since. Its spicy-malt flavor, cocoa, dried fruit, and toffee notes ignite cozy warmth. This year’s Jubelale packaging art is crafted by Bend artist, Evan Namkung.

Grains of Wrath Hail Santa!

6.7% ABV

Santa Claus performs miracles and wonders every Christmas Eve. He can create and deliver virtually any present any child can imagine. He can fly through the sky and deliver these gifts to millions of children all over the world — all in one night. And not just any old presents but exactly the ones desired by each individual child. To accomplish this mission, he must have the ability to be present almost everywhere at once. Hail Santa! Grains of Wrath honors Santa with this spiced holiday ale made with cinnamon, allspice, ginger, nutmeg, and honey.

Corsendonk Christmas Ale

8.5% ABV

Corsendonk Christmas Ale has all the sugar and spice. Brewed with Pale, Munich and Caramunich malts, plus Kent Goldings hops, this rich, dark, joyous brew has sweetish, yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity aroma of caramel, coriander, toasted coconut, some raisins and a touch of chocolate with similar tastes followed by a medium long, quite bitter, moderately yeasty-spicy and slightly roasty finish.

Block 15 Hoppy Holidays

9.2% ABV

Brewed with a sleigh-full of Northwest-grown hops, sweet orange zest, and local spruce tips foraged by Block 15 Brewing, Hoppy Holidays’ seasonal flavors of pine and citrus blend with a hearty malt backbone to evoke holidays of past, like opening a gift box of citrus under a holiday tree. Hoppy Holidays!
