Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: 2024 Apple Cup

Share

The long-standing rivalry game between the University of Washington Huskies and Washington State University Cougars kicks off for the 116th time at 12:30 p.m. today, but this year’s Apple Cup is a bit different from past years. Both teams are 2-0 to start the year, but this is the first time in over six decades the teams will face off as non-conference opponents. WSU remains in the Pac-12, while the Huskies are now competing in the Big Ten Conference. WSU is coming off a massive victory against Texas Tech in Pullman, while the national championship runners-up Huskies are looking to build off its 30-9 win against Eastern Michigan. The Huskies have won the last two Apple Cups, most recently beating the Cougars 24-21 thanks to a walk-off game-winning field goal. The Huskies have dominated the all-time series, holding a record of 73-32-6 against WSU. That’s all fine and dandy, but let’s get to drinking. Watch the Boeing Apple Cup at Peaks & Pints while enjoying our in-house beer flight: Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: 2024 Apple Cup.

Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: 2024 Apple Cup

Aslan Forestalgia

4.8% ABV

Today may still end up as the warmest Apple Cup when the teams kick off at 12:30 p.m. Temperatures will be in the low 60s, which will be warmer than the highs for all but three of the previous 115 days the Cougars and Huskies battled on the gridiron. Since more September meetings are almost certain to come, it’s not hard to imagine a year where you could wear shorts sandals to the biggest game of the season. Let’s enjoy a crisp lager brewed by breweries on both sides of the Cascades. Forestalgia is an individual’s yearning for an idealized future, and this crisp American Lager embodies that desire brewed by more than 100 breweries and beer industry businesses at Aslan Brewing. This collaboration through the Washington Wild’s Washington Brewshed® Alliance is committed to protecting Washington state’s forests and rivers for future generations. It is essential that we protect these resources for the future of our people, the planet, and great beer. Forestalgia offers flavors of rose, lemon, and honey pair with a sweet, crackery malt profile leading to a refreshing, bright lager. The hops used in this brew are also Salmon-Safe.

Backwoods Cheap Entertainment, V2

5% ABV

Peaks & Pints will broadcast the Boeing Apple Cup on our big screen (our smaller TVs can’t broadcast the game.) Come on in to Peaks & Pints for some cheap entertainment and enjoy a Backwoods Brewing Cheap Entertainment. A second fresh hop collaboration with Crux Fermentation Project, Backwoods’ Cheap Entertainment Volume 2 is a light, crisp, fresh hop lager with biscuit notes and a floral finish.

Stoup In The Meantime IPA

6.3% ABV

As has been well documented over the last year-plus, the University of Washington has officially joined the Big Ten Conference. The Huskies are joined be fellow former Pac-12 programs Oregon, UCLA and USC in making the move to the B1G, which now includes 18 schools. Washington was one of four founding members of the Pacific Coast Conference (along with Cal, Oregon and Oregon State), and, along with Cal, was one of just two teams that were a part of that league (which changed names to the AAWU, Pac-8, Pac-10 and Pac-12) for the entirety of its full-fledged existence from 1915 to 2024. The Department of Athletics for the University of Washington and Washington State University have a five-year extension of Boeing’s title sponsorship of the Boeing Apple Cup, which aligns with the scheduling commitment from both schools to continue the renowned football rivalry through the 2028 season. In the meantime, enjoy today’s game with Stoup Brewing’s In The Meantime IPA, brewed with Galaxy, Citra Cryo, Mosaic Cryo and Wakatu hops, offers tropical fruit, citrus and mango notes.

E9 Puppies Vs. Kittens

6.5% ABV

E9 Brewing brews an annual IPA celebrating the Washington Huskies and WSU Cougars annual match-up. This double dry hopped IPA is enhanced with Citra Cryo, Simcoe Cryo, and Comet, plus 2-row malted barley and German pilsners malt with a small amount of golden naked oats and torrified wheat, plus fermented with E9’s Barbarian Yeast to produce juicy stone fruit, apricot, and peach flavors.
