Peaks & Pints hosts the Plant Pop-up with Fernseed and Bale Breaker Brewing from 5-7 p.m. inside our Proctor District’s craft beer and cider bar, bottle shop and restaurant. A part of Tacoma Beer Week 2023, plant and beer enthusiasts will stroll through Fernseed’s pop-up shop inside Peaks while sipping on Bale Breaker’s latest beers. Bale Breaker’s owners brew handcrafted ales surrounded by their great-grandparents hop fields, just down the road from where they were born and raised. They opened the estate brewery in April 2013, which now includes barley fields. Their 27,000 square foot facility, 30-barrel brewhouse features an onsite taproom with a beautiful outdoor patio and lawn area. In conjunction with many Bale Breaker beers on tap tonight, Peaks hosts an all-day, in-house Bale Breaker beer flight — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Bale Breaker. Include Peaks & Pints on your Tacoma Beer Week itinerary and tell your new plants about your favorite Bale Breaker beers. The discussion will help them grow faster. Cheers!
Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Bale Breaker
Bale Breaker Pilsner
4.8% ABV
Bale Breaker’s year-round crisp Pilsner carefully balances malt and hops with notes of breakfast cereal, floral, and citrus. Brewed with local Simcoe, Loral, and Palisade hops grown on the brewery’s family farm in the Yakima Valley. Made in the classic German style with noticeable hops and no adjunct malts, this pilsner is made with all Pacific Northwest hops, which bring additional citrus and berry fruit notes and less floral character compared to traditional European noble hops.
Bale Breaker Daybreak Pale Ale
5.5% ABV
Ten years ago, when Bale Breaker opened, they utilized the hop knowledge from their family that has been growing hops over four generations. The brewery had two beers available when it opened – Top Cutter IPA and Field 41 Pale Ale. Think of Daybreak Pale Ale as Field 41’s more modern younger sibling brewed with Simcoe and Mosaic hops. The simplicity of this hop bill lets the featured hops shine. The beer is crisp and crushable with complex aromas of grapefruit, apricot, and pine resin with hints of mango, blueberry, and melon.
Bale Breaker Incoherency Golden Stout
8.3% ABV
The Jameson Caskmates Hyperlocal Limited Editions were conceived when Bale Breaker Brewing and Revolution Brewing travelled to Ireland to brew their signature beers to season Jameson casks. The process resulted in Jameson Caskmates Bale Breaker and Revolution Brewing Limited Edition — tripled-distilled, blended Irish whiskey that has been patiently finished in local craft beer-seasoned barrels. Brewed as part of Bale Breaker’s Caskmates collaboration with Jameson, Incoherency Golden Stout was first released through the Imagination Station in 2017. This mind-altering golden stout made with vanilla beans, cacao nibs, and Basalt Roasters’ coffee is aged two months in Jameson Irish Whiskey barrels.
Bale Breaker Skyward IPA
6.5% ABV
Bale Breaker Skyward IPA is a clean, easy-drinking IPA. Similarly to how Daybreak Pale Ale joined the year-round lineup while keeping the classic Field 41 Pale Ale around, Skyward IPA will join Bale Breaker’s flagship IPA, Topcutter, as a second IPA option for the brewery’s year-round lineup. The West Coast IPA is named for the direction our hops stretch as they grow at Loftus Ranches, Bale Breaker’s fourth generation family hop farm. This new IPA features Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, and CTZ hops that provide notes of grapefruit, pineapple, and a classic West Coast dankness.
Bale Breaker Clarity Rarity No. 11
7.1% ABV
Bale Breaker’s series Clarity Rarity is a line of Bale Breaker staff-favorite small batch hazy IPAs that graduated from the Yakima brewery’s Imagination Station small-batch system. Release No. 11 is a clarity rarity brewed with El Dorado, Simcoe, Citra, and Mosaic hop additions for aromas of pineapple, melon, nectarine, pine resin, and citrus.
