Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Block 15 Brewing IPAs

Share

There are a few Northwest breweries that crank out numerous different beers every week. Block 15 Brewing is one of them. And, the Corvallis, Oregon, brewery releases a wide variety of styles every week, too. Offering unique hop-forward ales, crisp lagers, Belgian-style brews, barrel-aged rarities, and one of the Northwest’s most extensive wild and sour programs, Block 15 produces a range of artfully crafted beers, brewed with a nod toward fresh ingredients and fresh thinking. The Block 15 barrage has arrived again to our Tacoma Proctor District craft beer lodge. It’s time for another in-house Block 15 flight, which we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Block 15 Brewing IPAs. OK, it’s an all-IPA flight, but we swear the brewery brews all styles.

Block 15 Tipping Point

6.5% ABV, can

Each spring, spruce trees begin to sprout new needles. These are the tips, and they are soft and pliable and a brighter shade of green than the existing needles. If left on the tree, they will eventually harden into the needles we’re more accustomed to with the tree. Spruce tips can either be used to bitter and flavor a beer in place of hops, or as a flavorful ingredient in addition to hops adding a delightful combination of pine, citrus, woodsy, green, and even wine grape, or red berry. Block 15 tossed freshly foraged, sticky spruce tips into their Tipping Point IPA with layers of cryogenic, super-critical hop extracts. It all comes together with dank and fruity notes layered with a lingering, resinous finish.

Block 15 Vital Vibe

6.6% ABV

Vital Vibe IPA graduated through Block 15’s creative process from experimental batch to stand-alone brand. It began as one of their most popular emerging IPAs of 2023, Consortium: Mosaic x HBC-586, and morphed into this bright and approachable West Coast IPA with notes of melon, kiwi, and pear with a crisp, snappy finish.

Block 15 Ice Knife

7% ABV

Brewed with cutting-edge hop technologies, CO2 extracted Salvo and cryogenically frozen Strata CGX, this West Coast IPA amplifies the most vibrant factions of sticky and pungent hop characters with a razor-sharp hop showcase of bright citrus peel oils and dense resin.

Block 15 Sticky Hands

8.1% ABV

Block 15’s Sticky Hands double IPA is a “Hop Experience Ale” featuring ample additions of sticky, resinous, lupulin-packed hop buds grown in the Pacific Northwest. Sticky Hands begins with an aromatic blast of tropical fruits, citrus, and dank herbs; transitions into luscious hop flavor; and ends with a balanced bitter finish, gently propped up by pale malted barley and fermented with Block 15’s privately banked Brewers yeast.
