Bow & Arrow Brewing was founded in 2016 by Shyla Sheppard and Missy Begay, two Native American women who are also life partners. Opening a Native American, queer, women-owned brewery was monumental; nobody else had done it yet. Sheppard and Begay have turned Bow & Arrow into a brand that uplifts others in Indigenous communities. Sheppard and Begay met while attending Stanford University. An avid homebrewer and former social impact investor, Sheppard was raised in North Dakota’s Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation and acts as the brewery’s president and CEO. Her other half, Begay, a full-time medical practitioner, was raised in New Mexico’s Navajo (Diné) Nation and, as creative director, leads their branding, marketing, and design development. With our first-ever shipment from Bow & Arrow Brewing arriving this week, Peaks & Pints is excited to offer a great variety of styles that effectively showcase their stellar work in our Friday beer flight, Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Bow & Arrow Brewing.
Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Bow & Arrow Brewing
Bow & Arrow Easy Cactus
5% ABV
This Mexican dark lager, brewed with Pilsen malt and flaked corn, is clean and malty with notes of cocoa, dark chocolate, and mild roastiness.
Bow & Arrow Sunshine Believer
5.2% ABV
Step into the golden glow of Sunshine Believer, an all-Lorien hop pilsner with locally sourced Estancia, New Mexico, malt. It pours a pale gold with a light herbal and hay aroma, notes of lemon grass, bread crust, and hints of blueberry, finishing with a touch of malty sweetness with low bitterness.
Bow & Arrow Savage Time
6% ABV
Sour IPAs combine the tartness of a sour with the hoppy, fruity softness of a hazy IPA. What sets sour IPAs apart from other IPAs is the addition of acid, typically through kettle souring. For those unfamiliar with kettle souring, it is a technique that lets brewers sour unfermented wort in only somewhere between a scant 24 hours to several days. It’s considered a quick way to sour a beer in the brewing world. Bow & Arrow’s sour IPA, Savage Time, brewed with Sabro, Citra, and Azacca hops, offers tart, tropical fruit notes and slight dankness.
Bow & Arrow Scenic West
6.5% ABV
Scenic West captures the spirit of the rugged mesas and welcoming solitude Bow & Arrow calls home. Simple yet enchanting, with a wild bouquet of El Dorado, Simcoe, Citra, and Mosaic hops, this hazy IPA is thirst-quenching light desert dank with ripe citrus notes.
Bow & Arrow Riding the Range Once More
7.5% ABV
Bow & Arrow rode into a New Year with its newest hazy featuring Azacca, Idaho 7, and Motueka hops for drifts of orange tang, grapefruit rind, and pineapple pith.
