Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Dawn of Fresh Oktoberfest

Share

For the eighth consecutive September, Peaks & Pints is throwing a month-long autumn beer party marrying up two popular seasonal beers — fresh hops and Oktoberfest bier. Launching Sunday, Sept. 1, Peaks & Pints will tap fresh hop and Oktoberfest beers daily through Monday, Sept. 30. Expect, at least, two bright, hop-hazy fresh-hop beers on tap AND two clean, hearty Oktoberfest-style lagers on tap. This year, we’re calling our annual celebration, “Peaks and Pints Dawn of Fresh Hoptoberfest”. We’re kicking off Fresh Hoptoberfest with an in-house flight of fresh hop and Oktoberfest beers — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Dawn of Fresh Oktoberfest.

Matchless These Pretzels Are Making Me Thirsty!

5.4% ABV

Much like the overabundance of pretzels at beer festivals, Matchless Brewing focused on the bready character from a single decoction and Pilsner, Vienna, and Munich malts for their festbier, These Pretzels Are Making Me Thirsty. It sports a complex, bready, and flowery aroma, followed by flavors of good pasta, roasted grain, and a hint of pine.

Cloudburst Sorry for Partying

5.6% ABV

Cloudburst Brewing’s keller festbier pays tribute to one of the biggest parties in the world, Oktoberfest in Munich. As a remote homage to this international beer holiday, Cloudburst brewed an unfiltered and unfined rendition of this style with Pilsner, Vienna, and Caramunich malts from Weyermann and German Mittelfruh hops. It’s bready, biscuity, and festive AF.

Bayern Oktoberfest

6% ABV

Bayern Brewing’s owner, Jurgen Knoller, came to Missoula, Montana, from southwestern Germany in 1987 and he still brews his Oktoberfest according to the standards of the Brewers’ Guild of Munich, which was established in 1815 when they brewed this Bavarian Dark Märzen for the first time to celebrate the royal wedding of King Ludwig I and Princess Maria Theresia. This lager is brewed with Pilsener, Munich and German Dunkel malt. The hops come straight from the Hallertau region in northern Bavaria and the finishing hops are Saaz from the Czech Republic. It’s a classic Bavarian dark Märzen — not too sweet yet malty with a nice hop flavor.

Occidental Fresh Hop Pilsner

5% ABV

For their 2024 Fresh Hop Pilsner, Occidental Brewing grabbed fresh Hallertau Mittelfruh hops from Goschie Hop Farms from the Willamette Valley. An ode to Oregon hop farmers and noble hops, this refreshing brew for the end of the summer offers flavor and aroma notes of spice, fruit, and fresh flowers.

Breakside Fresh Hop Pilsner

5% ABV

Breakside Brewery also grabbed fresh Hallertau Mittelfruh hops from Goschie Hop Farms from the Willamette Valley for their fresh hop German-style pilsner, which makes it a fun comparison with Occidental Brewing’s Hallertau Mittelfruh fresh hop pilsner.
