Summer is an exciting time for beer nerds. Regionally, the season is met with the release of Fort George Brewery‘s (Astoria, Ore.) 3-Way IPA. The hoppy beer is an annual collaboration — in its 12th year — with two other West Coast breweries. This year’s brew is joined by Brujos Brewing (Portland, Ore.) and Ghost Town Brewing (Oakland, Calif.). Join Peaks & Pints for the Official Tacoma 3-Way IPA Release at 5 p.m. tonight. We will have not only 3-Way, but nine other Fort George beers, plus two hazy IPAs from Brujos on tap. Fort George rep Kyle will be in house sampling and handing out swag from 5-8 p.m. In conjunction, Peaks & Pints presents an all-day, Fort George beer flight that we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Fort George Tap Takeover — we’re listing five Fort George beers for this flight but the other five are also available for the flight. Click the “Live Tap List” link to the right for the full tap list. Cheers!
Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Fort George Tap Takeover
Fort George Consider The Mango
5.5% ABV
Consider for a moment … the mango: the vibrant yellow color, the juiciness, the gentle tartness. And like any good fruit stand, Fort George’s Consider the Mango fruited sour comes with a bit of chili pepper on top. It’s brewed with Berkeley Galactic yeast, which adds a touch of sour to pair with the sweet mango puree and Guajillo, Arbol, and Pasilla peppers.’
Fort George Iredale
4.7% ABV
Fort George’s Iredale is a toasty Vienna lager that’s light and refreshing enough to be a year-round drinker, but with some deeper biscuit and toffee notes, hints of nutty caramel, and a subtle spice, and fruity hop finish. If you miss those crunchy leaves and knitted sweaters of autumn, wrap yourself up in an Iredale.
Fort George Java the Hop V2 (2024)
6.5% ABV
Fort George brought back its Java the Hop coffee IPA for this year’s May The 4th Be With You celebrations. Together with our friends at Coava Coffee in Portland they hand selected two single-origin, masterfully roasted coffees to pair with two, masterfully grown hop varieties — version V2 features New Zealand 106 hops and Coava Kilenso coffee from Ethiopia for earthy, herbal, dank, and light roast notes.
Fort George 3-Way IPA (2024)
7% ABV
The 2024 3-Way IPA is a glorious golden elixir perfectly calibrated for maximum enjoyment, brought to you by the brewers at Brujos, Ghost Town, and Fort George. Brewed with a malt bill of GW 2-Row, Rahr Pils, and Weyermann Acidulated, then hopped with Simcoe, Mosaic, and Columbus Cryo, this pale gold, zippy and zesty IPA has notes of tangerine and watermelon with bitterness on deck and a vibrant, balanced finish. Fun fact: To celebrate the release of the 2024 edition of 3-Way IPA, Fort George Brewery, once again, hosted its Lupulin Ecstasy Festival in Astoria last Saturday. The IPA-centric festival featured beers from Fort George, Brujos, and Ghost Town along with the previous 3-Way IPA collaborating breweries.
Fort George Fields of Green (AXEL)
7.6% ABV
Fort George’s Fields of Green is an exploration of hop-perceptions, pushing the limits of your lupulin receptors. This periodic IPA release, always evolving, has landed at Peaks and Pints — on tap and in cans. The latest batch, Codename: Axel — brewed with Citra, Hollingberry Idaho Gem, YQH 1320 Elani, and Mosaic Cryo hops — is technically a sweet and gently hazy IPA but Fort George believes if you closed your eyes, you could be tasting a homemade fruit tart made with the ripest, freshest tropical fruit, served with a side of the world’s finest life saver gummies. It’s slightly mineral with a complex floral zing to balance the sweetness.
