Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Labor Day Weekend 2024

Share

Labor Day is a respectful way of thanking and serving tribute to a history of hard work and positive contribution toward a stronger, more prosperous nation. It’s also a day most people are just happy to be off work. With seasonal creep already bringing pumpkin beers to the shelves, Peaks & Pints aims today’s in-house beer flight toward five beers that would make ideal companions for the last days o’ sun. Our criteria? The beers come in cans (portable to beach, pool, barbecue, and paddling), they’re in the Peaks & Pints cooler, and they taste delicious. Head to our craft beer and cider bar, bottle shop and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District, sample these five beers in our Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Labor Day Weekend 2024, then grab the cans and head off toward adventure.

Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Labor Day Weekend 2024

Prairie Tiny Esses

5.9% ABV

Riding your bike all over the neighborhood with your friends. Having sleepovers in backyards, basements, and tree houses. Popping Skittles all summer long. Prairie Artisan Ales offers the same Gen Z summer experience, albeit without the bikes and sleeping bags: Tiny Esses, their sour ale made with popular rainbow chewy candy bits of orange peel, lemon peel, lime, and Skittles. Expect electric lemon-lime to juicy strawberry, swirling into one intoxicating blend of sugary tartness.

Logan Double Hearts

7.6% ABV

Fresh raspberries out of the garden are hard to beat when it comes to fruit, and they not only taste delicious, but these nutritional super-fruits are also chock-full of healthful antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Raspberries are colorful, sweet, and create happiness on a warm summer day. Logan Brewing in downtown Burien brewed their Double Hearts double fruited sour with 350 pounds of red raspberry purée from Oregon after letting their wheat ale base kettle sour for 48 hours with Lactobacillus. Pouring a thick reddish-pink color this tart and fruity smoothie-like ale is truly a double-whammy of sour and raspberry.

Kulshan Fiamma Frosty American Lager

5.2% ABV

Here’s the thing with American lagers — you have absolutely nothing to hide behind. Either you make a bangin’ beer, or you stray into the territory of your dad’s yellow fizz. Thankfully, Kulshan Brewing makes the former. A collaboration with Fiamma Pizza and Fiamma Burger in Bellingham, Kulshan’s Fiamma Frosty American Lager features a crisp malt profile with subtle citrus and hop notes all working in tandem to make this collaboration brew a match made in Bellingham summer heaven.

Aslan Forestalgia

4.8% ABV

Forestalgia is an individual’s yearning for an idealized future, and this crisp American Lager embodies that desire brewed by more than 100 breweries and beer industry businesses at Aslan Brewing. This collaboration through the Washington Wild’s Washington Brewshed Alliance is committed to protecting Washington state’s forests and rivers for future generations. It is essential that we protect these resources for the future of our people, the planet, and great beer. Forestalgia offers flavors of rose, lemon, and honey pair with a sweet, crackery malt profile leading to a refreshing, bright lager. The hops used in this brew are also Salmon-Safe.

Fort George Topaz

5.25% ABV

Topaz Farm is a three-generation family-owned and run farm 20 minutes outside of Portland. It’s also one of the coolest music venues in the state, hosting a rad summer concert series. Pumpkin patches. Sunflower mazes. Farm to plate dinners. You must do a lot when you’re a farm. Or you get to do a lot. Fort George Brewery‘s Topaz hazy pale ale is brewed light and refreshing with a focus on rockstar hops, Citra & Strata, a low ABV, and that characteristic dusky summer shimmer: music just beginning as sunbeams stretch over freshly cut fields.
