Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: RŌM Beer

Share

When you think of adventures in California, Delahunt doesn’t come to mind. Delahunt doesn’t scream kayaking, hiking, climbing, surfing or flying. In 2020, when Todd Delahunt launched Delahunt Brewing Company with an unyielding focus on quality in two locations — San Clemente headquarters and later Dana Point — he was more concerned with building a brewery and surviving the COVID-19 than hiking the Coastal Trail or biking Orange County. Since purchasing Delahunt in August 2023, Head Brewer Chris Linn and his six ownership partners have gradually acclimated to their new venture while roaming Southern California, like they do. They renamed the brewery RŌM (pronounced “roam’”) Beer Company emphasizing a brand that goes beyond the commercial to value high-quality products, pursuing passions, and continually striving to improve. Linn and crew rebranded toward an outdoorsy image that better aligns with the Dana Point and San Clemente communities’ preferred pastimes and guided by the North Star. Within the “O” of the official RŌM Beer logo is a north star, which also stands alone as an alternate logo in addition to a “flying hop” logo that has wings attached. XBP Limited Liquids has brought RŌM to Washington state, and Peaks & Pints celebrates with a Friday flight of RŌM beer — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: RŌM Beer.

Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: RŌM Beer

RŌM German Lager

4.5% ABV

This German style helles lager is brewed with floor malted German Pilsner and Munich malts along with hand selected Perle and Spalt hops for notes of fresh baked bread, damp cedar, honey blossom, and slight lemon zest.

RŌM When In RŌM

4.7% ABV

The Italian Pilsner substyle was born, naturally, in Italy in 1996, when Agostino Arioli brewed Tipopils at his Como brewery, Birrificio Italiano. A fan of German pilsners, Arioli had been on a mission to brew his own take on the style. It wasn’t until a trip to England where he learned about hop plugs and dry-hopping real ale in casks, however, that the pieces fell into place. Today, dry-hopping is the defining characteristic of Italian-style pilsners, which stand apart from the slightly sweet Czech pilsner and the drier, crisper, more bitter German pilsner by retaining the aromatics of the hops, which might otherwise be lost to the boil. RŌM’s When In RŌM Italian pilsner follows suit. It sports refreshing and clean bitterness alongside bright herbal and floral aromas of lemongrass, lavender, and citrus zest courtesy of a generous dry hopping. It’s light and crispy with a lightly sweet honey finish.

RŌM Hill to Hill

5.2% ABV

Hill to Hill, a collaboration with Tarantula Hill Brewing, is a crisp West Coast-style pilsner featuring Riwaka hops from Freestyle Hop Farms in New Zealand. Bursting with bright lime, passionfruit, and subtle grapefruit aromas, it’s balanced by a clean, light malt body consisting of only the best Pilsner malt. This refreshing pilsner finishes dry and smooth, showcasing the vibrant, tropical flavors of Riwaka hops.

RŌM Horizons – Crosby Edition

5.6% ABV

Horizons: Crosby Edition is a vibrant pale ale showcasing the best of Crosby Hop Farms with Strata and Amarillo hops. Bursting with bright citrus and berry aromas, each sip delivers notes of citrus, juicy berries, and a hint of pine. Its balanced body and pleasant bitterness make it irresistibly refreshing, leaving you reaching for another sip.

RŌM Lo Vis Hazy IPA

6.4% ABV

While RŌM’s Lo Vis Hazy IPA was inspired by a series of storms that left the crystal-clear waters of Jervis Bay temporarily clouded, the beer also honors one partner’s late father by displaying the flight map for the flight on which the father died on the Lo Vis can — A homage to the spirit of exploration and the legacy of pilot’s passion and discovery. Dry-hopped with Citra and Nelson, this hazy takes flight with vibrant aromas of citrus, orange juice, and tropical fruits.
