Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Single Hill Commons

Share

Yakima-based Single Hill Brewing has opened a new location in Seattle, taking over the space formerly occupied by Outpouring Bottle Shop. Located on the west side of the Ballard neighborhood, the Single Hill Commons is the second location for Single Hill owners Ty Paxton and Zach Turner who launched Single Hill in an old JC Penney Tire Center in downtown Yakima in August 2016. The two first met at a cider pressing party that a mutual friend was hosting in 2013. Three years later, over pints at Bale Breaking Brewing, the two hatch the idea for a community-based brewery in a town dear to their hearts. Single Hill Commons will retain a robust on- and off-premise wine and beer programs in the style of its predecessor, Outpouring. Today, Peaks & Pints presents an in-house flight of Single Hill beer — a flight we call Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Single Hill Commons.

Single Hill Hops For Hounds

5.4% ABV

Hops for Hounds is back. Brewed with HBC 586 and Simcoe hops, Hops For Hounds is grapefruit forward with a dash of pine and rounded bitterness throughout. The slightly creamy and quaffable hazy is a collaborative fundraising effort for the Yakima Humane Society, by local breweries and industry partners. This juicy IPA for humans features hops generously donated by John I. Haas.

Single Hill Odd Feather

6.8% ABV

This double dry hopped IPA features a broad spread of aromatic hops, from the modern, tropical Galaxy, to the classic citrusy Centennial to the big alpha hop with juicy mango notes Azacca. Odd Feather offers pineapple, orange cream, and grapefruit atop a soft and pillowy base.

Single Hill Spinning Yarn

6.8% ABV

“We’ve all got that mate who spins quite a yarn at the pub, only for it to turn out to be bull. Right?” asks Single Hill before releasing their recently released Spinning Yarn hazy IPA. Spinning Yarn offers the unique and intense aromas and flavors of hops from New Zealand. Brewed with Riwaka Cryo, Nelson Sauvin, and Motueka hops, this pillowy, smooth IPA sports notes of guava, passionfruit, and tangerine, while keeping bitterness restrained and easy.

Single Hill Local Knowledge

8.3% ABV

Local Knowledge is a double dry hopped West Coast IPA featuring Mosaic Spectrum, Ekuanot, and Riwaka hops. It’s punchy and resinous, with a classic bitterness, and aroma of lychee, mango, and lime zest.

Single Hill Parallax

10.5% ABV

Single Hill ages this American Barleywine in Westland Single Malt American Whiskey barrels that previously held bourbon and rye whiskey. The oak, vanilla, and spice flavors from these barrels stands up to and balances the driving caramel and butterscotch malt flavors of the base barleywine. Parallax took second place in the 2024 Untapp’d Community Awards for American Barleywine, right below Urban Family.
