Tacoma beer joints are scrambling. Although it feels like we just celebrated Tacoma Beer Week, this city’s beer bars and restaurants are frantically organizing our thoughts for Tacoma Beer Week 2025. It begins March 1 — there’s a pre-funk party on Feb. 28. There’s no rest for the weary. We have three more days to submit our 2025 events, which will be listed at tacomabeerweek.com. The 10th annual edition of Tacoma Beer Week promises to be better than ever. Whether you’re making your first visit to a local brewery tasting room, heading out on a craft beer special event, or exploring how beer and food interact, Tacoma Beer Week is the perfect time to dive into the craft beer scene. Today, you can hear the details when the Grit & Grain beer podcast records live at 4:30 p.m. in the Peaks & Pints Events Room. Tacoma Beer Week organizers Gini Sommer and Kyleigh Palmer will join the podcast to discuss the history of Tacoma Beer Week and the TBW 2025 events and poke at their captain — Matt McLaren, who also founded the Grit & Grain and leads the podcast team every other Wednesday at Peaks. Please stop by today to listen and enjoy these five local beers on a flight called Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Tacoma Beer Week 2025 Prefunk.

E9 Tacoma Brew
5.1% ABV
Columbia Brewing Co. brewed Tacoma Brew in the late 1800s in Tacoma’s now Historic Brewery District. Beer made at the facility gained national attention for its flavor and smooth aftertaste in the early 1920s, prompting the brewery to double in size and increase capacity by the mid-1930s. Success at the plant got the attention of another brewery, Heidelberg Brewing Co., which purchased the Columbia plant in 1949 and set out for another remodeling round. Carling Brewery bought The facility again a decade later, making it the only West Coast holding of the otherwise East Coast beer company. The brewery is long gone, but Tacoma Brew, a Kolsch, is still being brewed. Tacoma’s Engine House No. 9, now E9 Brewing, located in Tacoma’s Historic Brewing District, bought the recipe for the brewery’s “Tacoma” brew and still serves it many, many years after the originating brewery held its last call. Tacoma’s first beer has a medium body accentuated with crisp Northwest hops.
7 Seas Depth Finder IRA
5.9% ABV
7 Seas Brewing’s Depth Finder India Red Ale combines the hop profile of an IPA with the malt character of a toasty, toffee-like amber ale. Deep russet in color and brewed with a cacophony of specialty malts, including a pinch of chocolate malt, Depth Finder is aggressively hopped with Columbus, Palisade, and Simcoe varieties, achieving a superbly floral, piney nose with a resinous, bitter finish.
Silver City Cold IPA
5.2% ABV
Silver City Brewery’s Cold IPA is fermented with their house lager strain and otherwise treated like an IPA through brewing. It is fermented at lower temperatures than what is typically used to ferment an ale. Expect aromas of bright tangerine and lemon, quickly followed by pine and resin, leading to juicy mango, passionfruit, and apricot flavors with just a touch of dankness.
Wet Coast Moving Day IPA
6.4% ABV
President Woodrow Wilson had a wine cellar in the White House, but by the time he left office in 1921, Prohibition was the law of the land. As if moving weren’t stressful enough, he had to figure out how to transport his wine to his new digs. Luckily, he was granted an exemption from Congress. Wet Coast Brewing’s Moving Day IPA is here to stay. The Prohibition-themed Gig Harbor brewery’s flagship is packed with resinous, citrus, and tropical flavors and aromas thanks to five different hop varieties. It is balanced by its solid malt bill featuring Munich and Crystal malts.
Narrows King Tide DIPA
9.9% ABV
Ride the wave of bold flavor with Narrows Brewing’s King Tide Hazy DIPA. Crashing in at 9.9 percent ABV, this colossal brew surges with tropical citrus, ripe stone fruit, and resinous pine notes from a massive dry hop. Its smooth, pillowy mouthfeel balances the intense hop character.
