Peaks and Pints Dark Days of Thanksgiving: Drinksgiving

Share

The night before Thanksgiving is known as Blackout Wednesday, or Drinksgiving, and is a time when people often binge drink. This cultural phenomenon is driven by college students and young adults returning home for the holidays, and many people have the next day off for Thanksgiving.  For those reasons (and the fact that Thanksgiving is for many a stay at home and cook family holiday) a large swath of pre-turkey day drinkers spends the night out hitting bars and restaurants. A holiday before “The Holiday” Black Wednesday now ranks as one of their biggest drinking dates of the year … right up there with New Year’s Eve and that saying something. Since Peaks & Pints is down the street from the University of Puget Sound, we do see a college crowd every Blackout Wednesday, but our Blackout Wednesday is more about the dark beers we have on tap. It’s our annual Dark Days of Thanksgiving celebration where we tap dark beers all week until the close of Black Friday. Stop by Peaks & Pints in Tacoma’s Proctor District and enjoy Peaks and Pints Dark Days of Thanksgiving: Drinksgiving.

Peaks and Pints Dark Days of Thanksgiving: Drinksgiving

Alesong Vin To The Abyss

11.9% ABV

This collaboration started in Deschutes Brewery‘s brewhouse in Bend, Oregon, where Alesong Brewing & Blending created a decadent imperial stout with lactose, oats, and Dutched cocoa powder before co-fermenting on crushed and destemmed Horse Heaven Hills AVA Merlot grapes from Weinbau Vineyards. Once fermentation was complete, they aged in a combination of barrels from Westward Whiskey and French oak that previously held Deschutes’ famed Abyss imperial stout. Bold chocolate and dark fruit create pure decadence in your taster glass.

AleSmith Speedway Stout: Chocolate Raspberry Edition

12% ABV

For the second year in row, Peaks & Pints was a pit stop for AleSmith Brewing’s Speedway Grand Prix on the road. The longtime, San Diego brewery takes their San Diego Beer Week signature Speedway Grand Prix event on the road, popping up in cities nationwide, including Tacoma. Brewed for the 2024 AleSmith Speedway Grand Prix, their signature coffee imperial stout is brewed with cacao nibs, raspberries, and coffee.
