Peaks and Pints Flight: 44 Degrees

Share

Nick Walsh began his beer career at night bartending in Tacoma, including Doyle’s Public House. Then, Nick spent time in the daylight selling beer for Alpha Distributing, Marine View Beverage, Columbia, and currently as owner of 44 Degrees Beverage Sales Solutions repping a dozen or so craft breweries and cideries with his team. Tonight, Nick returns to the dark hours — OK, maybe not completely dark due to daylight savings time — when he throws a Nick at Night party for his clients and friends at Peaks & Pints craft beer and cider bar, bottle shop and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. Peaks & Pints will follow Nick’s party rider plan tapping beer and cider from Belching Beaver, Boneyard, Deschutes, Double Mountain, Everybody’s, Georgetown, Kulshan, Incline Cider, Occidental, Maritime Pacific, and Silver City. If you enjoy delicious beer and cider, as well as industry hugs and inside jokes, we’ll see you at 5 p.m. If you just want a delicious flight of beer and cider, then Peaks & Pints has five 44 Degrees clients on tap for a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Flight: 44 Degrees.

Incline Imperial The Tropics

8.4% ABV

POG is a drink made up of passionfruit, orange, and guava juices (hence POG). The story goes it was created in 1971 by the now-defunct Haleakalā Dairy on Maui. Passionfruit, known in Hawaii as lilikoi, hails from South America, and yellow passion fruit is thought to have been introduced in the 1920s. Guava likewise comes from Central and South America but thrives in the Hawaiian islands’ temperate climate, and one variety, strawberry guava, is now recognized as one of the biggest invasive tree species. Native to Asia, oranges were introduced to the islands in 1792 by Captain George Vancouver. Incline Cider’s Imperial The Tropics, ITT, recreates the classic combination of passionfruit, orange, and guava, packing a punch at 8.4 percent.

Kulshan Oktoberfest

6% ABV

This year’s Kulshan Brewing Oktoberfest recipe features a lighter body that better highlights all the ingredients that make this style special. Boasting a greater balance between enticing malt and delicate floral hop notes, this Oktoberfest is so quaffable and true to style.

Occidental Fresh Hop Pilsner

5% ABV

For their 2024 Fresh Hop Pilsner, Occidental Brewing grabbed fresh Hallertau Mittelfruh hops from Goschie Hop Farms from the Willamette Valley. An ode to Oregon hop farmers and noble hops, this refreshing brew for the end of the summer offers flavor and aroma notes of spice, fruit, and fresh flowers.

Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro

5.3% ABV

This San Diego-brewed, 2014 World Beer Championships silver medalist Belching Beaver Brewery milk stout hits a nostalgic note: Peaks & Pints remembers how good a creamy peanut butter sandwich tastes with a glass of milk. That same luscious, nutty peanut butter flavor flows alongside coffee creamer richness; slight coffee roast and peanut butter on our noses before a lightly roasted, bitter but creamy finish.

Everybody’s Old Soul Porter

5.8% ABV

To be an old soul is about more than having an enhanced level of maturity. It’s about having a solid sense of self and forging your own path in the world. Old souls focus on positive thinking, understand what makes the world go round, and look at the big picture. They are wise beyond their years, and are grounded and intuitive. Everybody’s Brewing‘s Old Soul Porter forges its own path with Bravo, Cascade, and Chinook hops for layers of toffee and caramel topped with dark roast and a subtle spice.
