Raised in Puyallup, Colin Lenfesty was a longtime homebrewer who worked his way into the Schooner EXACT Brewing team where he met sales guy Mike Murphy. In 2014, the two opened Holy Mountain Brewing in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood. Their oak-influenced and mixed fermentation beers, as well as hop-forward ales and lagers, instantly gained crowds and awards. During the pandemic, Murphy left Holy Mountain and the industry to open Outer Dark Coffee in Tacoma leaving Lenfesty to forge ahead. Forklift failures, whiskey wrestling, fly fishing and the quickest and most delicious entry into craft beer fame — hear how Lenfesty built Holy Mountain on the Grit & Grain Podcast at gritandgrainpodcast.com, or search your favorite podcast mediums, including Channel 253. Peaks and Pints Holy Mountain Beer Flight
Holy Mountain Demonteller
5.5% ABV
Holy Mountain is built on a foundation of oak. Their Demonteller is a mixed culture saison hopped with Galaxy and Mosaic and then fermented and aged in one of their foudres, creating a delicate oak character that balances out a subtle acidity. Expect tartness, subtle sweetness, lemon and clove notes, and a little woody funk.
Holy Mountain Black Beer
4.5% ABV
Black Beer is brewed traditionally with respect to some of the great British brewers. Think of it as hybrid of a dark mild and a porter — a drinkable, malty ale is brewed with roasted and flaked barley, London Ale yeast and hopped with East Kent Golding. Flaked barley helps to increase the mouthfeel while keeping it low ABV. It’s amazing how much strong coffee, super roasty, toasty malt flavor can come from such a light beer.
Holy Mountain Unholy Bond
5.8% ABV
Brewed with a beautiful, German-grown heritage malt, Unholy Bond is the brewery’s take on a mineral forward and crisp export-style lager. Striking a balance between malty and hoppy, this lager is extremely refreshing and easy to drink.
Holy Mountain Coastal Cutthroat 2025
5.8% ABV
A benefit for the Coastal Cutthroat Coalition, and organization that’s dedicated to the science and management of wild Coastal Cutthroat trout, this juicy, hazy pale ale has notes of dank grapefruit.
Holy Mountain Donnyllama Doppelsticke
8.5% ABV
Brewed in collaboration with E9 Brewing, Donnyllama Doppelsticke is brewed with Pilsner, Munich and dark specialty malts, and then hopped with Hallertau and Tettnang. This strong German alt-style beer undergoes an extended cool fermentation with their favorite Kolsch yeast. After a period lagering, it’s transferred into former Midnight Still bourbon barrels and left to age for 2 months for leathery notes, vanilla, light bourbon, and wood.
