The historical epoch of Armistice Day began with the Nov. 11, 1918, signing of a ceasefire between Germany and the Allied powers of World War I. President Woodrow Wilson initiated it. In the South Sound, we’re reminded of war’s impact more often than people in most other cities. But even so, it’s not often enough. Our freedoms, our heritage and the way of life we enjoy today are made possible because of our military veterans. Today’s 106th anniversary of Veterans Day honors all of America’s veterans for their patriotism, service and sacrifice. And for their families, there is no better time than now to recognize them and give thanks for the remarkable sacrifices they have made. Happy Veterans Day to all the veterans and current troops serving in our military. Our freedoms, our heritage and the way of life we enjoy today are made possible because of you. As a thank you Peaks and Pints will offer $2 off our special Monday autumn cider flight, Peaks and Pints Monday Cider Flight: Veterans Day, and $1 off all draft to veterans and active military on this Veterans Day. Thank you for your service to our country. Cheers!
Peaks and Pints Monday Cider Flight: Veterans Day
Portland Cider Pumpkin Spice
6% ABV
Oregonian Jeff and British Lydia launched Portland Cider Company in 2012 with the intent of marrying English cider traditions with the innovative Northwest micro-brewing culture. It all started from a desire to make the clean, dry cider Lynda grew to love in England, and Jeff yearned to find in Oregon. With their Pumpkin Spice, they take the flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, and ginger and blend them for pumpkin pie flavor.
Yonder Cashmere
6.9% ABV
Founded in August 2020 by CEO Caitlin Braam, Yonder Cider makes savory, subtly sweet and high ABV ciders in Wenatchee with a taproom in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, which is shared with Bale Breaker Brewing from the Yakima Valley. Crafted using a blend of bittersweet cider apples and juicy dessert apples, Yonder ciders are hardly simple, and never straightforward, but you can always count on them being interesting. Their autumn seasonal Cashmere is inspired by one of Braam’s favorite cocktails, the Negroni. Made with tart cranberry, dark cherry, and a hint of bitter orange, Cashmere hits the nose with orange peel and berry, pairing beautifully with notes from one of their favorite cider apples, Ashmead’s Kernel.
Incline Cider Basecamp Proctor
6.9% ABV
Introducing Basecamp Proctor — the new Peaks & Pints house cider crafted by local cidery, Incline Cider. We tapped Basecamp Proctor at our 8th Anniversary Party Nov. 1 and it will remain on Tap #7 for a full year. Made with an iconic blend of their favorite Pacific Northwest-grown apples — Fuji, Gala, Honeycrisp, Red Delicious, and Braeburn — Basecamp Proctor packs layers of bold, juicy apple flavor into every pint. It’s dry, bright, and refreshing.
Fierce County Patio Heater
7.2% ABV
Pineapple and habanero peppers are a match made in heaven. These two ingredients complement each other perfectly. Fierce County Cider’s Patio Heater pineapple habanero semi-sweet cider is apple-based, but co-fermented with pineapple and infused with habaneros, and made to drink under a patio heater because it’s freakin’ cold outside.
Sea Cider Witch’s Broom
9.9% ABV
Kristen Jordan is the founder, owner, general manager and cider master of Sea Cider in Saanichton on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. She’s been in the cider world for 24 years — from tree pruner to opening Sea Cider in 2007 on 10 acres she and her husband, Bruce, bought overlooking the Strait of Georgia. What was once a loganberry farm and sheep pasture became an apple orchard. Combined with a family orchard in the Canadian Okanagan, Sea Cider makes dry and sweet ciders from 6 percent for a sparkling English-style drink to 17 percent for their Pommeau, some aged in stainless-steel tanks, some in old rum and bourbon barrels. Their Witch’s Broom combines the best of BC Cider apples, cinnamon, orange, nutmeg and ginger.
