Peaks and Pints presents Adventwiches Beeralendar Day 19: Christmas Auld Lang Salmon
The year once started in March. Four thousand years ago, Mesopotamians celebrated the beginning of the year at the spring equinox, approximately March 21 by our calendar. The 12-month calendar dates back to about 700 BCE when the second king of Rome, Numa Pontilius, added the months of January and February. The Peaks & Pints Adventwiches Beeralendar began Dec. 1, 2020, offering a daily holiday sandwich special and a winter beer behind a candy cane striped door. Bartender Erin opened the Day 19 door to discover the Christmas Auld Lang Salmon sandwich special paired with Baerlic Yippee kI-PA.
Kitchen Kylee’s Christmas Auld Lang Salmon is smoked salmon smothered in a dill and chive cream cheese with cucumber and arugula on toasted French bread. It’s paired with Baerlic Brewing’s tribute to Die Hard, Yippee kI-PA, loaded with notes of resinous pine, candied citrus and grapefruit zest with enough malty sweet character for a really balanced and clean holiday IPA.
