Peaks and Pints Six Pack 11.3.18: Going Big
You’re going to catch the 7 p.m. screening of The House With a Clock in Its Walls at neighboring Blue Mouse Theatre. You’re going to witness a dictionary-obsessed, recently orphaned fourth-grader discover the house he’s moved into is the nexus point for all manner of apocalyptic hugger-mugger. You’re going to see Cate Blanchett head-butt a bloated jack-o’-lantern that projectile-pukes seeds and pulp. You’re going to see Jack Black and Blanchett rat-a-tat insult each other like a vaudevillian comedy duo. And, you’re going to walk away from this PG rated, frightening-enough horror-comedy needing a six-pack of craft beer, which Peaks and Pints can provide. Enjoy Peaks and Pints Six Pack 11.3.18: Going Big. …
1000 YEARS OF SILENCE, Fort George Brewery: Brewed with pasilla and ancho chilies, this imperial stout starts with rich roasted malt, molasses and brown sugar flavors finishing smooth with dark chocolate flavors and a hint of chili pepper that balances well on the palate. 10.5%, 500ml
KITTEN MITTENS WINTER ALE, Kulshan Brewing: This rich, medium-bodied winter warmer covers the nose with milk chocolate and a touch of brown malt. The body strikes a nice mix of easy malty notes and medium sweet chocolate. Expect a touch of chocolate liquor on the finish. 7.4%, 12oz
OLD SCROOGE CHRISTMAS ALE, Silver City Brewery: What’s the difference between a Christmas beer and a winter beer? Well, the labels for Christmas beers are usually red and green, while winter beer labels tend to be blue and white. As far as style goes, though, there’s not much to differentiate them. In fact, neither is even an official beer style. It’s fair to say Silver City’s Old Scrooge Christmas Ale is a Christmas beer. Besides its red and green label and Scrooge reference, “Christmas” is actually in its name. The old ale is bound to delight the palate with notes of apple, cherry and apricot. 8.5%, 22oz
SWERVE CITY, Belching Beaver Brewery: Another collaboration with the Deftones, this IPA captures the tropical vibes of POG juice with a classic combination of passionfruit, orange and guava. 7%, 22oz
SLEIGH’R, Ninkasi Brewing: Brewed with German Alt yeast and fermented at colder lagering temperatures, Sleigh’r has a dryer finish than traditional ales. First released in 2009, Sleigh’r rides roasted barley and Chocolate malts with Nugget hops balancing and a dry finish. 7.2%, 12oz
VISION QUEST, Fort George Brewery: Triple IPA with sweet orange peel and subtle tropical notes of mango and pineapple. 11.4%, 500ml
