Every December — while the bartenders close down our Proctor District craft beer bar, bottle shop and restaurant for the night — Peaks & Pints co-owner Pappi Swarner grabs three holiday beers, heads upstairs to his office, cranks his computer speaks to an 11 and watches holiday Youtube videos. Obviously, he can’t perform his holiday tradition this year … at Peaks & Pints. No, his holiday glee now takes place inside his home, much to the chagrin of his wife and daughter. In the spirit of giving, we offer you the chance to share his joy. Today, he pairs the three Christmas season beers with the 1964 Rankin-Bass stop-motion animation classic, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. He loves the story about a reindeer with a glowing red nose who caves to discrimination, but ultimately rallies other misfits and saves Christmas when the fog rolls in. He also wanted to be dentist. Stop by and grab Peaks and Pints To-Go Christmas Beer Flight: Amateur Dentists before the Bumble bounces.

Aslan King Moonracer
5.8% ABV
This beer placement is obvious. The winged lion King Moonracer ruled the Island of Misfit Toys in the Rudolph story. Moonracer didn’t let anyone but toys stay on his Island for some reason. This year’s Aslan Brewing King Moonracer winter ale was brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice — akin to fresh baked snickerdoodle cookies. The spices blend with the malt’s sweetness to create rich and decadent flavors of toffee, cinnamon bread, and candied ginger while the hop bitterness balances everything out — leaving you feeling like you just sipped a great cup of coffee. Bonus: Every year, a different employee at Aslan has the opportunity to design the King Moonracer label. This year’s label was designed by the talented Bobby Bruce (@bxpacific).
Brasserie Dupont Avec Les Bons Voeux
9.5% ABV, 28 IBU
In January 1970, Belgian brewery Brasserie Dupont needed a gift to dole out to key clients during the holidays. Key chains just weren’t going to cut it. Since the brewery produces amazing ales they thought why not gift an ale: Avec Les Bons Voeux, which translates as “with best wishes.” It blew minds. Dupont eventually released it commercially, albeit in limited quantities. A saison boasting a hefty 9.5-per-cent alcohol, it pours with a hazy tint and is almost buttery-smooth in texture. There’s mellow fruitiness and yeasty bread flavor at its core, with lively clove and licorice notes folded in, set against a solidly bitter backbone.
Kulshan Barrel-Aged Kitten Mittens
11% ABV, 32 IBU
Kulshan Brewing just release their barrel-aged version of their popular Kitten Mittens winter ale. The original Kitten cuddles with a nice mix of easy malty notes and medium sweet chocolate balanced by earthy hop notes finishing with a touch of chocolate liquor. After time in Stein Distillery barrels it’s the cat’s meow with a rich, medium body that rubs against the tongue with chocolate, dates and figs. Balanced bitterness and playful hop aroma fit like a mitten.
