Peaks and Pints To-Go Christmas Beer Flight: Max Headroom

Share

Every December — while the bartenders close down our Proctor District craft beer bar, bottle shop and restaurant for the night — Peaks & Pints co-owner Pappi Swarner grabs three holiday beers, heads upstairs to his office, cranks his computer speaks to an 11 and watches holiday Youtube videos. Obviously, he can’t perform his holiday tradition this year … at Peaks & Pints. No, his holiday glee now takes place inside his home, much to the chagrin of his wife and daughter. In the spirit of giving, we offer you the chance to share his joy. Today, he pairs the three Christmas season beers below with Max Headroom’s Giant Christmas Turkey special. Headroom, a fictional British artificial intelligence known for his wit and stuttering, distorted, electronically sampled voice, was the most ’80s that the ’80s could be. His holiday show is bad. Not even cameos by Robin Williams or Tina Turner could’ve saved it. Grab Peaks and Pints To-Go Christmas Beer Flight: Max Headroom and enjoy it with this Turkey.

Peaks and Pints To-Go Christmas Beer Flight: Max Headroom

Corsendonk Christmas Ale

8.5% ABV

Corsendonk Christmas Ale has all the sugar and spice. Brewed with Pale, Munich and Caramunich malts, plus Kent Goldings hops, this rich, dark, joyous brew has sweetish, yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity aroma of caramel, coriander, toasted coconut, some raisins and a touch of chocolate with similar tastes followed by a medium long, quite bitter, moderately yeasty-spicy and slightly roasty finish.

Mother Earth 4Seasons Winter Imperial Mocha Stout Nitro

10.9% ABV, 55 IBU

Mother Earth 4Seasons Winter Imperial Mocha Stout is a full-bodied, rich winter-warmer loaded with chocolate and whole coffee beans, lending a wonderful roasted aroma and flavor without being astringent. Lactose and nitrogen further add to the beer’s body and provides a silky-smooth mouthfeel mid-palate. Medium crystal and pale chocolate malts add light caramel and toffee notes.

Shmaltz Hanukkah Beer 2020 Golden Jelly Donut Ale

8% ABV

A long way from the first 100 cases brewed in 1996 and delivered in a Grandmother’s Volvo – Shmaltz Brewing Hanukkah Beer is all new for 2020. Eight malts, eight hops, and 8 percent ABV of course – Shmaltz cooked up a bright shiny gift of its new Golden Jelly Doughnut Pastry Ale brewed with 600 pounds per batch of real purees of raspberry and cherry with a generous slathering of pure vanilla. It’s a glorious tribute to the beloved Sufganiyot, dating back to the 1500s.
