Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Logan Brewing

Share

In August 2020, Chris Palumbo opened the charity-focused brewery Logan Brewing in Burien. The brewery is named for Logan Palumbo, Chris’ younger brother, who passed away from suicide in 2015. Chris honors his memory by giving some of their profits to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Logan’s passion for video and board games is reflected in the brewery’s beers and taproom. The Grit & Grain Podcast, which records at Peaks & Pints every other Wednesday, hosts Logan Brewing for a special Tacoma Beer Week 2025 episode at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5. The focus of their discussion will be a unique TBW collaboration, No Bad Time, a Cascadian dark ale, also known as a black IPA, inspired by local Lander Coffee’s roast of Nueva Montana, a Guatemalan coffee, with notes of strawberry, raspberry, brown sugar and chocolate. The Grit & Grain helped brew the CDA, but the beer had no coffee. Stop by to learn more about the brewery, the brew day, the CDA style, and Tacoma Beer Week. Peaks & Pints offers an all-day Logan beer flight, which can be enjoyed in the Peaks’ Event Room during the recording, including the preceding 3:30 p.m. Grit & Grain recording with Dusty Johnson, who owns Lander Coffee, State Street Beer Co., and the new Wily Cycleworks on Sixth Avenue. Stop by for more Tacoma Beer Week fun, two Grit & Grain recordings, and Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Logan Brewing.

Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Logan Brewing

Logan King of Red Lions

6.5% ABV

This blackberry lemon sour, created in collaboration with Figurehead Brewing, offers intense flavors from Sicilian lemons, jammy blackberry purée, and Sourvisiae yeast.

Logan Ghost of Tacoma

5.8% ABV

Brewed in collaboration with Odd Otter Brewing as part of Logan Brewing’s tour of Tacoma for Tacoma Beer Week 2025, Ghost of Tacoma West Coast Pilsner is a crisp and refreshing pilsner brewed with Loral, Citra, and Cascade hops.

Logan Hi, How Are You?

6% ABV

‘Hi, How are You?’ is a nationwide campaign by Yakima Valley Hops and participating breweries to raise mental health awareness and remind you to check on your friends and yourself. This intensely fruity and aromatic hazy IPA is made with Flex, Lupomax, and Incognito advanced hop products.

Logan Fire Temple

7% ABV

This West Coast IPA brewed for Logan’s second anniversary is now a year-round treat. Fire Temple boasts a simple malt bill with an aggressive hop regiment; a blend of English and German grains provides the base for loads of Pacific Northwest Centennial hops in the whirlpool and a robust dry hop of Amarillo and Citra Cryo. Fresh citrus aromas highlight bright grapefruit, orange, and lime flavors with pleasant floral overtones and hints of tropical fruit.

Logan No Bad Time

6.8% ABV

To celebrate Tacoma Beer Week, Logan Brewing teamed up to craft a black IPA with all the flavors of Tacoma. Inspired by Lander Coffee’s Nueva Montana Guatemalan roast with some added Tacoma grit from collaborators Grit & Grain Podcast, the resulting hoppy ale is balanced, bitter, and roasty with strawberry and red currant notes, just like the coffee. It’s drinking proof that there’s “No Bad Time to Visit Tacoma!” This beer does not contain caffeine or any actual coffee.
