Peaks & Pints Tacoma Beer Week 2025: 7 Seas

Share

Polar bears, the first species to be declared threatened or endangered because of climate change, rely on sea ice for hunting seals and raising their young. Climate models project that rising temperatures will continue diminishing sea ice throughout this century. In other words, polar bears are listed as threatened in the US under the Endangered Species Act in May 2008. This alarming news is undoubtedly the polar opposite of what you expected to read attached to the 2025 Tacoma Beer Week. Would it make more sense if you learned there’s a beer party planned to save polar bears? Pour it forward to Saturday, March 1, the opening day for Tacoma Beer Week; the 10th annual Party for Polar Bears will be held in Tacoma’s Proctor District. The 2025 Proctor Polar Bear Crawl begins in the afternoon with shopping and treats at participating Proctor businesses, followed by a nighttime fundraising party featuring the Party for Polar Bears organization, Point Defiance Chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers, and Drinking for Conservation with 7 Seas Brewing from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peaks & Pints. In conjunction, Peaks & pints will offer a flight of 7 Seas beer called Peaks & Pints Tacoma Beer Week 2025: 7 Seas.

Peaks & Pints Tacoma Beer Week 2025: 7 Seas

7 Seas Red Raspberry Sour Ale

4.7% ABV

Red Raspberry Sour Ale is brewed with Pilsner malt, malted white wheat, Magnum and Golding hops, loads of red raspberry puree, and a touch of San Juan Island sea salt. The flavor starts full of thick, ripe raspberry puree, with the hit of tart acid coming very early and trailing for the remainder of the flavor as the salt, carbonation, and slight sweetness emerge with the lingering and pleasant, lasting berry flavor.

7 Seas Depth Finder IRA

5.9% ABV

7 Seas’ Depth Finder India Red Ale combines the hop profile of an IPA with the malt character of a toasty, toffee-like amber ale. Deep russet in color and brewed with a cacophony of specialty malts, including a pinch of chocolate malt, Depth Finder is aggressively hopped with Columbus, Palisade, and Simcoe varieties, achieving a superbly floral, piney nose with a resinous, bitter finish.

7 Seas Black IPA

7% ABV

Black IPAs, or Cascadian dark ales, are characterized by the perception of caramel malt and dark roasted malt flavor and aroma. Hop flavor and aroma are medium-high fruity, citrus, piney, floral, and herbal. 7 Seas Brewing’s version is surprisingly light on the palate, velvety smooth, and offers both power and finesse—generously layered with Nugget, Centennial, and Simcoe piney hops and a hint of roasted malts for a lingering, flavorful finish.

7 Seas Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine

10.2% ABV

Aged in Woodinville and Pursuit Distilleries Bourbon and Rye Whiskey barrels, this barleywine boasts notes of caramel and dried fig. Its warm and sensational flavors are accompanied by a hint of spice from the rye barrels from which it came.

7 Seas Ballz Deep

8.4% ABV

We’ve been meaning to ask 7 Seas owners Mike Runion and Travis Guterson if they pondered naming their double IPA “Great Ballz of Fire.” After all, a fire in their Gig Harbor brewery set them back six months for their 2008 opening. No matter. They’ve been on fire ever since, offering Washington state its first canned craft beer, brewing sustainably, and operating production and taproom facilities in downtown Gig Harbor and downtown Tacoma. Ballz Deep is all about caramel-sweet malts and dank pine with a citrusy finish.
