“Whereas, Tacoma is home to a thriving craft beer scene that continues to build upon its rich history of brewing, dating back to the late 1800s … Now, therefore, I, Victoria R. Woodards, Mayor of the City of Tacoma, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim March 1-9, 2025, as TACOMA BEER WEEK in the City of Tacoma and encourage residents and visitors to support local businesses while enjoying the unique flavor and community spirit that defines Tacoma’s craft beer scene.” That’s the beginning and end of last night’s Tacoma City Council proclamation recognizing Tacoma Beer Week’s impact on the local economy, its role in fostering our community, and the continued success of our craft beer industry — as witnessed by Peaks & Pints and the 12 other local beer industry folks in attendance. Peaks & Pints joins 30-plus venues supporting Tacoma Beer Week 2025, officially kicking off Saturday with a prefunk party at E9 Brewing Friday. Peaks & Pints has a week of activities celebrating our beer scene and community. Today, we offer a taste of our Tacoma Beer Week through a five-beer-tasting flight. Swing by Tacoma’s Proctor District and enjoy Peaks & Pints Tacoma Beer Week 2025: Tasting Prefunk.
Peaks & Pints Tacoma Beer Week 2025: Tasting Prefunk
Silver City Cold IPA
5.2% ABV
SATURDAY, MARCH 1: Commencement Bay is one of the brightest spots of hope for environmental restoration — thanks to the work of Communities for a Healthy Bay. On March 1, the opening day of Tacoma Beer Week 2025, Communities for a Healthy Bay and a local institution that lives and dies by clean water, Silver City Brewery in Bremerton, join forces with South Sound Surfrider for a community beach cleanup in Old Town Tacoma followed by the Gose With The Flow sour beer collaboration release party 2 to 4 p.m. at Peaks & Pints. Add the beach cleanup and post party to your calendar while enjoying Silver City’s Cold IPA fermented with their house lager strain but otherwise treated like an IPA through brewing. It is fermented at lower temperatures than typically used to ferment an ale. Expect aromas of bright tangerine and lemon, followed by pine and resin, leading to juicy mango, passionfruit, and apricot flavors with just a touch of dankness.
7 Seas Depth Finder IRA
5.9% ABV
SATURDAY, MARCH 1: The 10th annual Party for Polar Bears will be held in Tacoma’s Proctor District on Saturday. The 2025 Proctor Polar Bear Crawl begins in the afternoon with shopping and treats at participating Proctor businesses, followed by a nighttime fundraising party featuring the Party for Polar Bears organization, Point Defiance Chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers, and Drinking for Conservation with 7 Seas Brewing tap takeover from 6 to 9 p.m. at Peaks & Pints. Add the Polar Bear Crawl and Party to your calendar while enjoying 7 Seas’ Depth Finder India Red Ale, which combines the hop profile of an IPA with the malt character of a toasty, toffee-like amber ale. Deep russet in color and brewed with a cacophony of specialty malts, including a pinch of chocolate malt, Depth Finder is aggressively hopped with Columbus, Palisade, and Simcoe varieties, achieving a superbly floral, piney nose with a resinous, bitter finish.
Loowit Ole’s IPA
6.3% ABV
TUESDAY, MARCH 4: Peaks & Pints brewed their eighth house IPA at Loowit Brewing in downtown Vancouver. Since the brewery is named after Mount St. Helens and its eruption silenced many trees, they called the beer Silent Trees IPA and have partnered with the Tacoma Tree Foundation, once again, to tell the stories of their favorite trees. As part of Tacoma Beer Week, Peaks will host a fundraiser for Tacoma Tree Foundation with Loowit Brewing in the house from 5 to 8 p.m. on March 4. It will be a Tree-tremendous night with tree education, tree games, and piney goodness to support community greening efforts in the Greater Tacoma area, Pierce County, and the watersheds of Puget Sound. Add the tree party to your calendar while enjoying Loowit’s Ole’s IPA, a toast to the mountain man himself, Ole Peterson—a Southwest Washington legend of the wild, a friend to all, and the kind of person who could out-hike, out-fish, and out-story anyone. His spirit of adventure lives in every sip, and this brew is a tribute to the grit, passion, and warmth he brought to life.
Living Haus Mr. Mercury
4.9% ABV
THURSDAY, MARCH 6: As part of Tacoma Beer Week at Peaks & Pints, Tacoma Arts Live will offer free mini-performances throughout the night while audiences sip on Living Haus Beer and exchange plants. Peaks will donate the proceeds to Tacoma’s beloved arts organization. Add the night of performances and plant swapping to your calendar while enjoying Living Haus Beer’s Mr. Mercury, a traditional Bohemian pilsner. Brewed with Saaz hops and a blend of Bohemian barley malts grown in the Czech Republic, this beer is bready with a hint of biscuit on the finish that compliments the soft bitterness from the Saaz hops. Noble hop spice notes and delicate floral aromas tie everything together in a nice little package.
Great Notion Afterglow
6.7% ABV
FRIDAY, MARCH 7: As part of Tacoma Beer Week, NW Beverages, Peaks & Pints, and Great Notion Brewing will host a benefit to help support the facility dog program at MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital with a coloring contest featuring Mary Bridge facility dog Olaf, a silent auction, and specialty beer from Great Notion from 5 to 8 p.m. March 7 at Peaks & Pints. Proceeds from every tap pour will support Olaf and the growth of the facility dog program. The silent auction will feature items from local businesses, including Lucky Dog Outfitters, Wag Pet Market, H & L Produce, Harbor Greens, and Peaks & Pints, to name a few. Add the Olaf benefit party to your calendar while enjoying Great Notion’s Afterglow, a West Coast IPA dry hopped with Citra, Nelson Sauvin, and Idaho 7 hops for citrus and dank white grape flavor.
OTHER PEAKS & PINTS TACOMA BEER WEEK EVENTS: Peaks & Pints will also host the Tacoma Beer Week live Grit & Grain Podcast with Lander Coffee and Logan Brewing at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, and an Incline Cider Tap Takeover on Sunday, March 9.
