Craft Brew Alliance, Redhook Ale Brewery’s parent company, announced it will shut down the Redhook brewery in Woodinville.
Asheville, North Carolina-based Wicked Weed Brewing will be acquired by Anheuser-Busch’s The High End, a division of AB-InBev, according to a press release put out Wednesday. Wicked Weed was founded in 2012 by Walt and Luke Dickinson and friends Ryan, Rick and Denise Guthy.
Diehard craft beer community followers weren’t the only ones shocked to learn of yesterday’s Wicked Weed acquisition by AB-InBev. Jester King Brewery founder Jeffery Stuffings shared his thoughts on the acquisition announcing that Jester King would no longer sell Wicked Weed products based on the principal that the world’s largest brewery conglomerate has actively pushed legislation to oppose the interest of Texas craft brewers.
Cascade Brewing released its Kriek 2016 project in bottle and draft at its two pubs – Cascade Brewing Barrel House and Raccoon Lodge – and through its distribution channels. Kriek is a blend of sour red ales aged in oak wine barrels for up to 17 months with Bing and sour pie cherries. The beer features complex flavors of cherries, roast malts, oak and spice, and comes in at 7.4 percent ABV.
