Bremerton’s oldest craft brewery turned 20 this past fall, with the energy of a human the same age. Peaks and Pints is still crunching the numbers but we swear Silver City Brewery released a new craft beer, or resurrected vintage throwback recipes, every three days since January 2016. Makes sense, the busy brewery added a 20th Anniversary series with its MacFarlane’s Scotch Ale hitting the taps Jan. 8, followed by its Deluxe Malt Liquor, in addition to Fat Woody Scotch Ale Limited Series, the return of Ziggy Zoggy Summer Lager and on and on.

It also makes sense for Peaks and Pints to celebrate Silver City’s success and awesome craft beers inviting them to our Lodge Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. Silver’s City’s Old Scrooge Ale, Nutcracker Spice Ale, Wonderland Winter Lager, Ridgetop Red and Nice Day IPA will flow from our Western red cedar tap log as door prizes are raffled off.

For a brief second you could see the exhaustion in their faces as the Silver City management dined at Peaks and Pints Wednesday night. “It was a great year,” said Scott Houmes, Silver City Brewery co-founder said, surrounded by Kat Goodsell, sales and operations controller, Kurt Larsen, director of sale and marketing; Daniel Frantz, marketing and PR specialist and, of course, Jordan Marsh, the brewery’s sales executive and face of the brewery in the South Sound. “We brewed a lot of great beers this year. We’re all proud, and equally proud of our marketing efforts.”

Silver City Brewmaster “Big Daddy” Don Spencer and his crew were no doubt fast asleep Wednesday preparing for next year’s full beer release calendar. Houmes rattled off a list of beers coming our way: Tropic Wonder, a Vermont-style, hazy, tropical IPA; the return of Cold One Czech-style Pilsener; and more low ABV, great flavor profile beers — a favorite style of Silver City brewers.

The plan is in the works for a 21st birthday party at their Bremerton facility, and another year of many release parties in their taproom — which is exactly what you’d expect. Turning 21 has a tendency to do that kind of thing.
