SOUTH SOUND PREFUNK SATURDAY, JUNE 10 2017: Loowit’s Space Panther IPA and awesome events

PREFUNK: There’s a good chance you’ll find the 1988 Space Panther pinball machine at the Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show at the Tacoma Convention Center this weekend. There’s even a better chance you’ll find Loowit Brewing Co.’s Space Panther IPA on tap at peaks and Pints today. And, for you, that’s good news. This is an outstanding IPA for few reasons: It’s inexpensive; it’s available and it’s easy to drink. While an excellent choice for year-round drinking, Space Panther IPA shines most bright when you’re relaxing in the rays on a summer afternoon. Instead of shocking your system with sharp hops, this light-bodied IPA graces the palate with a slight pine-y and citrus bitterness and is well rounded throughout. Peaks and Pints, Tacoma

1-11 P.M. TRICERATOPS BREWING TAPROOM OPENING: Tumwater craft brewery triceratops opens its taproom today. Pouring from the Triceratops taps will be their own Liquid Swords 4th Chamber IPA, Ben SMaSH IPA, Sammy IPA and Strawberry Blonde plus guests Whitewood Cider and Airways/Matchless collaboration pilsner. Drop by for a hug from owner Rob Horn. 8036 River Dr., Suite 203, Tumwater

2 P.M. TACOMA WINED UP: Spend a fun afternoon wine tasting at Broadway Center’s first annual Tacoma Wined Up featuring 20-plus Northwest wineries, live music by The Happy Sinners, Paris Williams and Squirrel Butter, plus food pairings of cheese, charcuterie, olive oils and more. Tacoma Armory, Tacoma

6 P.M. NEON: Spaceworks second annual auction Neon offers an opportunity to dress up, and enjoy a party of colors and creativity. Live art and entertainment will fill the evening while attendees win local art and small business experiences in auctions, raffles and games. Tin Can Alley, Tacoma

9 P.M. ROCK SHOW: The Resident Kings, Girl Trouble, Shaken growlers and The Hard Way will rock Olympia tonight. Rhythm & Rye, Olympia

11 P.M. DR. STRANGELOVE: Kubrickheads come in all kinds, and Peaks and Pints is the kind who believes he peaked with Dr. Strangelove Or: How I learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb in which one of Peter Sellers’ characters is named after a pubic wig. A deadly Molotov cocktail with a Catherine Breillat-level fixation on sexual confusion, its list of strong and impossibly strange points is too long and well known to be relayed here. Instead we’ll say it’s the tightest thing he ever did and that it’s no coincidence it’s also his most collaborative opus that isn’t named Spartacus. Drop by The Grand late tonight and watch the film that inexplicably lost the Best Picture trophy to My Fair Lady. The Grand Cinema, Tacoma
