TACOMA PREFUNK MONDAY JUNE 19 2017: Dank IPAs and creative types …
PREFUNK: Given the right physical space and strain, cannabis can soothe those creeping feelings of isolation and doubt into solitude and reflection. The anxiety of what made you alone in the first place is replaced with an appreciation for this moment — a bit of time to just reflect on all the crap for a bit. Stoner music works for that feeling too — music where your brain suddenly proffers a slideshow of memories, combined with some revelation about your past and present. Sure, this makes no sense, but let’s pair stoner music with dank IPAs and hang, man. Peaks and Pints offers a flight of dank IPAs all day, but will add stoner music once the clock strikes 7 for our weekly Monday night SudsPop listening party. Peaks and Pints, Tacoma
5 P.M. PARKWAY RANDALL: Randall connects to the tapping system of keg allowing ready-to-drink beer to flow through a vessel holding ingredients which infuse flavors and aromas in the beer just prior to drinking. While the device was originally created to add fresh hop flavors, it has since been used to infuse everything from raspberries to bacon. The Parkway Tavern will run Schooner Exact’s Seamstress Union Raspberry Wheat through their Randall tonight. Parkway Tavern, Tacoma
7 P.M. CREATIVE COLLOQUY: Creative Colloquy lures readers and writers out of hiding, to connect and conspire. Come imbibe in roasted bean concoctions, craft brews and vino varietals as they gather to listen to writers narrate their tales. Featured line-up includes Katherine Van Eddy, Christian Carvajal, Burl Battersby, Russ Van Rooy and Elizabeth Beck. An open mic follows. B Sharp Coffee House, Tacoma
7 P.M. THE BOSS BABY: Here’s a story of a paranoid 7-year-old who envisions his new baby brother as a high-powered business type. The joke here seems to be that lead voice actor Alec Baldwin is doing a riff on Jack Donaghy. Blue Mouse Theatre, Tacoma
