5 P.M. RANDALL MONDAY: Everyone is familiar with the classic Herman Melville novel, Moby-Dick, published in 1851 during the period of the American Renaissance. Less familiar might be Moby-Grapefruit, Jeff Fraychineaud’s epic tale of the Parkway Tavern and its captain, Sean Jackson, who relentlessly pursues the great Randall infusion every Monday night. The narrator of the novel is Nicholas Brosier, a bartender at the Parkway who undertakes the journey out of his affection for craft beer. Tonight, Chapter 253, as Jackson crams secret ingredients into the Randall full of Hi-Fi Brewing’s Moby Grapefruit double IPA he and Brosier bump heads and are both knocked unconscious — simultaneously! There is a lot of imagery and magical narrative here, designed to heighten the reader’s sense of concern. Who will wake first?
