TACOMA PREFUNK MONDAY, SEPT. 11 2017: Atwood No Whey Bro and Moby-Grapefruit

PREFUNK: Atwood AlesNo Whey, Bro is a blonde ale fermented with Lactobacillus bacteria cultured from yogurt. Dry hops (Citra, Ekuanot and Mosaic) add tropical and citrus fruit to the tangy aroma. Less familiar might be Moby-Grapefruit, Jeff Fraychineaud’s epic tale of the Parkway Tavern and its captain, Sean Jackson, who relentlessly pursues the great Randall infusion every Monday night. The narrator of the novel is Nicholas Brosier, a bartender at the Parkway who undertakes the journey out of his affection for craft beer. Tonight, Chapter 253, as Jackson crams secret ingredients into the Randall full of Hi-Fi Brewing’s Moby Grapefruit double IPA he and Brosier bump heads and are both knocked unconscious — simultaneously! There is a lot of imagery and magical narrative here, designed to heighten the reader’s sense of concern. Who will wake first?

9:15 P.M. THE LITTLE HOURS: Aubrey Plaza and Kate “Oates” Micucci play convent nuns whose libido is awakened by the arrival of a mysterious stranger (Dave Franco). So basically, it’s like watching The Beguiled. The Grand Cinema, Tacoma
