TACOMA PREFUNK MONDAY, SEPT. 18 2017: Elysian The Gourdfather and Herr Sean Jackson
PREFUNK: As you know Peaks and Pints will host the Elysian Pumpkin Road Show Thursday night, a precursor to the Seattle brewery’s massive Great Pumpkin Beer Festival where 80+ pumpkin beers (plus a couple surprises) from near and far will be poured, including 20 or so from Elysian’s pumpkin-crazed brewers and their collaborators at the Seattle Center. Thursday, Sept. Sept. 21, Peaks and Pints will pour eight Elysian pumpkin beers, plus an actual pumpkin firkin and games. Peaks and Pints has tapped one pumpkin beer early, The Gourdfather, a pumpkin barleywine you can’t refuse, mellowing with age but still reminding you who’s boss. A veritable pushcart of malt bill brings pale, Munich, Cara-hell, Cara-vienne, C-15 crystal and pumpkin seeds up against a rival neighborhood armed with Magnum hops. At 23.4 Plato starting gravity and 11.2 percent alcohol it’ll keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
5 P.M. PARKWAY RANDALL: pFriem Family Brewers has an Oktoberfest beer called pFriem Festbier. The beer, which is 5.5 percent ABV and 25 IBU, is described by the brewery as “stronger than helles and lighter than marzen, golden amber in color with round, biscuity flavors and a touch of caramel.” The Parkway Tavern’s Master of Ceremonies Herr Sean Jackson will tap the Randall of pFriem Festbier full of mystery infusion ingredients then lead the crowd in a rousing version of “Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit.”
7 P.M. TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT: The fifth installment of the Transformers series purports to reveal the secret history of the Transformers on Earth. And if the medieval setting and trappings didn’t seem discordant enough, there’s also apparently a visit to the World War II era in the offing. Have a Gourdfather then check out the flick at the Blue Mouse Theatre.
