TACOMA PREFUNK SEPT. 29 2017: Hellbent Training Montage Ultimate IPA and Kuinka
PREFUNK: Science! Cryo hops are the product of an innovative and proprietary cryogenic process of separating out the lupulin glands of whole hop cones in a nitrogen-rich environment, concentrating the lupulin glands and eliminating chances of oxidation. The result is hop pellets, which are concentrated resins and super pungent, containing two to three times more aromatic properties than traditional hop pellet. Hellbent Brewing Co. in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood has brewed Training Montage Ultimate IPA (7.1 percent ABV), a new IPA using Cry hops during dry-hopping with Simcoe and Citra — and that’s after brewing with Simcoe, Citra, and Denali hops. Along with medium malt and a hint of caramel this is one Manual you’ll want to drink. Training Montage Ultimate IPA pours from Peaks and Pints Western red cedar tap log.
8 P.M. THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWBOY (AND THEIR NEW OLD FRIENDS): Sing Out Louise Theatricals presents a fundraiser for its inaugural full season with Tony Award winning Broadway Faith Prince and LA Drama Critics Award winner Jason Graae at the Rialto Theater. Artistic Director David-Edward Hughes hosts performances by Seattle stage favorites featuring songs from the company’s upcoming season.
8 P.M. KUINKA: Defiantly alternative string band Kuinka make “backyard folk” elevated to an almost orchestral level with input from classic string band instrumentation, weighty percussion, the integration of electronic sound production, cello, and six-string ukulele. The band joins Daniel Blue at Jazzbones tonight.
