SUMMER HEAT DANCE PARTY
The Brotherhood Lounge hosts “Summer Heat Dance Party” with DJ Fir$t Lady spinning her favorite old school hip-hop, plus other eclectic and funky dance tunes, beginning ta 9 p.m. Twenty-five percent drink sales from 9 p.m. to midnight goes to Interfaith Shelter.
PREFUNK: This week, Northwest Beerwerks turns its attention to smaller breweries in Washington state. It fired up the Wagon Queen Family Truckster and grabbed kegs from Half Lion Brewing, Dunagan Brewing, Perihelion Brewery, Barrel Mountain Brewing, Ashtown Brewing, Seapine Brewing, Trap Door Brewing, Fortside Brewing, Old Ivy Brewery and others for you to enjoy. Drop by the Olympia taproom and drink harder-to-find Washington treasures.
FUNK JAZZ ROCK
Portland based trio Dorado features Sky Cooper (guitar, lead vox), John Gobel (bass, foot synth, vox), and James Ford (drums, samples, vox) mixing “musical grooves, hooks, and three part vocal harmonies that would even get Oscar the Grouch shakin’ in his trash can.” Sesame Street reference aside, if you dig funky jazzy rock then head to The Swiss at 9 p.m. Progressive jazz rockers BES will also be in the house.
PREFUNK: Silver City Brewery’s The Giant Made of Shadows is awesome delicious; it did grab a bronze medal at the 2015 Washington beer Awards, after all. But, take that malty Dark Strong Ale in the Belgian Style, age it in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, and the results are double awesome delicious. No, this isn’t a tall tale. The Giant returned to the shadows, aging in single use Kentucky Bourbon barrels, oak and whiskey ran currents through the dark fruit, caramel and coffee. The Bourbon Barrel Aged Giant crushes with richness and complexity, ringing in at 9.9 percent ABV. The Giant returns to the brewery’s Bremerton taproom at noon.
