Top Rung Brewing salutes wildland firefighters with IPA

Top-Rung-Brewing-Digging-Line-IPAAfter several wildfires burned across Eastern Washington in recent weeks, and with temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s this week, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources has increased fire danger ratings in several Eastern Washington counties. After last year’s devastating fire season — the worst on record for Washington state — the DNR has set out to better prepare for the wildfires to come in 2016.

Every Day Thurston County firefighters Casey Sobol and Jason Stoltz think about those firefighters battling fires in brutal hot conditions. They know. Sobol and Stoltz have responded on firefighting mobilizations to the east side of the Cascades.

The two active firefighters also own Top Rung Brewing Company, a 10-barrel production brewery with firefighting-themed tasting room in Lacey, Washington.

Top Rung will release its new seasonal IPA, Digging Line, June 18, paying homage to the hard working wildland firefighters out digging fire lines to protect lives and property from the devastating effect of wildland fires.

Brewed with Pilsner malt and Idaho 7 and Cascade hops, this beer is a summer sipper — aromas of apricot and tropical notes followed with a nice crisp malt finish. The Digging Line Summer IPA rings in at 6.7 percent ABV and 50 IBUs.

Thank you firefighters.
